When is City Hunter Releasing? Everything to Know About the Live-Action Adaptation of Tsukasa Hojo’s Legendary Manga!

Fans of anime have, hopefully, been having a swell time this year with several live-action anime adaptations hitting our small screen and leaving us enchanted! With a similar goal in mind, Netflix is all set to release a live-action adaptation of Tsukasa Hojo’s legendary manga ( シティーハンター) which was later adapted into an anime series directed by Kanetsugu Kodama. With fantastic shows like Parasyte: The Grey and One Piece already creating waves and giving us hope of watching something truly remarkable once more, fans cannot keep calm with the upcoming release, espeically because of the massive popularity of the manga and the anime.

Ryo Saeba is a premier “sweeper” who naviagtes the dark and seedy underbelly of modern day Shinjuku, Tokyo. Ryo is showcased as a man with impressive athletic abilities, elite marksmanship and cool composure – making him the perfect person to tackle the worst of the city that is usually kept away from everyday life. With beautiful ladies being one weakness that he can’t seem ot get over, Ryo and his partner Hideyuki set out one night to find a mysterious cosplayer. Unfortunately, Hideyuki tragically dies which catapults Ryo to look deeper into a mind-altering drug called Angel Dust that is slowly but surely pushing Shinjuku into chaos.

Now, with Hideyuki’s sister Kaori Makimura’s help, the two of them try to stop this madness before something more horrible happens. In between, of course, Kaori tries to control Ryo’s perverted behaviours in hilarious ways!

Yuichi Satoh directs this live-action adaptation with Tatsuro Mishima joining as the screenwriter. Produced by Keisuke Sanpei and Kosuke Oshida, the movie’s ending theme is Get Wild Continual by TM NETWORK. Ryohei Suzuki plays protagonist Ryo Saeba and Misato Morita is Kaori Makimura. Joining Suzuki and Morita in the cast are Masanobu Ando as Hideyuki Makimura, Ryo’s partner, and Fumino Kimura as Saeko Nogami. Other members include Asuka Hanamura, Ayame Misaki, Moemi Katayama, Ami201, Tetta Sugimoto, Takaya Sakoda and Isao Hashizume.

City Hunter Release Date and Time

The movie is all set to release on April 25, 2024 at 12.30 PM IST and is expected to have a runtime of around 102 minutes.
