Bodies Ending Explained

Maplewood travels to 1890 to stop Mannix/Harker in the past. She ends up naked in Longharvest Lane, so the cops throw her in a prison cell next to Alfred Hillinghead. Maplewood tells Hillinghead everything about Harker/Mannix, how Harker marries his daughter Polly, and they have a son named Hayden, and about 2023 and 2053. Initially, Hillinghead refuses to believe her, but she manages to convince him.

When Harker arrives at the prison to kill Hillinghead, he tells Mannix that he knows everything about his real identity, Know You Are Love, aka KYAL and more. Despite all the planning, Hillinghead tells Harker that he will never achieve what he wants. Mannix is surprised to hear this but still kills Hillinghead. Unlike the first timeline, Harker tells his wife Polly everything, including the murder of her father. Polly is agitated, and in the new timeline, she doesn’t support Harker in his cult business.

Polly’s decision changes everything for Charles Whiteman. Harker/Mannix records two messages for his future self. When Whiteman arrives to kill Harker/Mannix and Polly, Harker requests that he send his recording to Shahara Hasan in 2023. Whiteman agrees to do the same but doesn’t spare the husband-wife duo and kills them. However, Hayden, their son, kills Whiteman in a bar.

Garbriel Defoe and Shahara Hasan are waiting for Maplewood to return in 2053. To their surprise, the brick wall, which had only Hillinghead’s name carved earlier, also mentions Maplewood and Whiteman. Whiteman leaves a clue for Hasan that he left her something important at the police hangout bar, where the 2023 blast occurred. 2053 Hasan uses The Throat to travel back in 2023 and finds Harker/Mannix’s recorded message, which he had given to Whiteman.

When Shahara Hasan listens to Harker’s message, it mentions that young Elias shouldn’t carry out the bombings in 2023. 2053 Hasan immediately contacts 2023 Hasan and plays the recording for Elias. Elias figures out that if it’s Harker/Mannix itself who doesn’t want him to carry out the mass bombing plan, he has to sacrifice himself. In some time, Elias disappears, thus marking Harker/Mannix’s end in 2023.

With Elias taking a big step of not carrying out the deadly plan, the decision changes the past and present. All the detectives from 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053 survive. However, both Hillinghead and Whiteman meet Henry and Esther under different circumstances. So, some incidents are destined to happen. Hasan is happy with her son, who is now safe. The last episode ends with Hasan taking a taxi for her father’s birthday.

The taxi driver is no other than Maplewood, who knows Hasan’s name. The last scene is from 2053, where the KYAL logo lights up. Despite all the timeline changes and efforts put in by everyone, the cult is still a big deal in the future.

Bodies Season 2 Update

Netflix has mentioned Bodies (2023) as a limited series. All the major questions were answered in the end, despite the complicated plot that takes a lot of time to unravel. So there won’t be another season.
