The story of the war continues with Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 1. Let’s see what new calamity has been enforced upon the soul society in this review!
Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 1 Overview

What is there to be said about Bleach that hasn’t been said before? It is one of the most popular anime in the west of Japan of all time and is considered a part of the Big Three, a trio of anime widely recognised as having been a part of popularising the medium of anime. The show is back after a hiatus of nine years, as its first run ended in 2013. The newest season of the show is being developed by Studio Pierrot, the studio behind the original series, as well as other giants such as Naruto and Tokyo Ghoul.
The second part of the final arc of Bleach is directed by Tomohisa Taguchi, who has been involved in the productions of Persona 4 The Animation and Twin Star Exorcists, and the series is based on a manga written by Tite Kubo. This episode is also referred to in original Japanese as Bleach Sennen Kessen-hen Ketsubetsu-tan Episode 1 (Bleach Sennen Kessen hen Ketsubetsu tan Episode 1) and Bleach TYBW Part 2 Episode 1.

Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 1 Review- The Final 9 Days

I am still not over this adaptation being a thing in the first place. It is absolutely wild how Bleach went from being the worst-regarded of the big three and being known more for its annoying fillers and slanderous videos people made about it on the internet than its actual content to having one of the best adaptations of these past few years. The latest episode was proof of how much love and care has been put into bringing this show back to life. The show has started off with a sprint, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing back down.

The biggest revelation of this season is Uryu’s turncoat status, which has been a long time coming and is not a surprise at all. After all, why would he stick around with the Soul Reapers and try to kill people who are like him? He has no love for the Soul Society and fought on their side not because of the Soul Reapers but to save his friends. All of that is still possible with Yhwach in charge, so it would make perfect sense for someone like Uryu to look out for himself in this instance.

Apart from that, the biggest reason to get excited about this part of the Thousand Year Blood War is that we get to have a look at the Sternritters, the newest numbered (or named) group of villains in Bleach. There are quite a few of them with varying personalities, and they should be very fun to explore when we see them in one-on-one fights, as is the show’s speciality. I’ve picked out a few favourites already, and probably so have you, but we’ll talk about them more as they get featured.

Ichigo is now with Ichibe, the strongest of the Squad Zero and someone who can claim to be among the strongest beings who exist in this universe. He is a fun character, but he has this scary look which suggests that you do not want to be around him when he isn’t playing. Ichigo seems to have started another training period and shouldn’t be seen for a while, which feels slightly excessive. While he just acquired a new Zanpakuto and needs to train with that, being locked in another training room like the previous 17 times can get a little played out.

The production quality of Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 1 was phenomenal. While the show continued with the blood red and dark framing, it started in the previous episode. There were several colourful frames here that would put anything that has come before this to shame. CGI has been employed in a way that it doesn’t stand out at all and enhances the original sketches done by the storyboard artists. The world of the Quincies was beautifully brought to life, and since we have to spend a lot of time here, we will come to appreciate it a little more with time.
Verdict
Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 1 was an engaging outing that set the tone for the rest of the season very well and contained a bit of everything that has made people love this show for so long.
