Black Mirror 6 Episode 4 Mazey Day Recap
In Black Mirror Season 6’s Mazey Day episode is set in the early 2000s. Bo is a paparazzo and secretly clicks pictures of a TV celebrity named Justin Camley. Justin is seen romancing a man in the pics. The actor requests Bo not to release the photos. He even offers her money, but she drives away. An angry Justin calls her an animal. Bo gives the photos to the media for money, and Camley’s secret is out now. But the actor is tremendously affected by the news and kills himself.
Bo is shocked by the news of Justin Camley’s suicide. She’s at an event where the paparazzi are chasing actress Sydney Alberti. The paps misbehave with her for the pics. This affects Bo, and she decides to quit being a paparazzo. She takes a job at a cafe. Sydney, who is working on a Mazey Day franchise, is often addressed by the same name. She’s in the Czech Republic for the shooting.
After the shoot, Sydney takes some drugs, gets drunk, and goes for a drive. She accidentally hits a man but, instead of helping, runs back to her place. Suddenly, there’s gossip that no one has seen Sydney Alberti/Mazey Day for weeks. Bo’s friend, a paparazzi, tells Bo that whoever gets the actress’ pic will get a $30,000 reward. Bo, who needs money, digs out everything she can to find Mazey’s whereabouts.

Bo learns that the actress is currently residing at a Cedar Wood Retreat. Bo’s friend and a few paparazzi also arrive at the retreat. They’re shocked to see a doctor, known for doing voodoo, looking after Sydney. When the doctor leaves, the paps enter the room and are shocked to see the actress chained to the floor.

Mazey Day Ending Explained
The photographers are happy as the pictures will help them earn good money. Mazey Day pleads with them to go away, but they won’t listen and keep pressing the camera button. We again see Bo showing her human side, unchaining Mazey, and yelling at her peers. However, something strange happens.
Sydney/Mazey, traumatised by the hit-and-run case, suddenly transforms into a beastly wolf. Bo and her friend manage to escape and run towards a diner. However, the animal kills the other photographers. At the diner, the wolf kills a couple, a cop and an employee. Bo uses the cop’s gun and shoots at the animal. Sydney is back to her human form, bleeding and crying in pain.

Ultimately, Sydney Alberti/Mazey Day pleads with Bo to shoot her with the gun. But Bo refuses to kill the actress. She gives the gun to Day so that she can shoot herself. However, the moment the actress shoots herself, Bo captures it on her camera.
Black Mirror 6 Episode 4 shows the extent to which paparazzi can go to get celebrity photos. When Justin called Bo an animal, he was right. Paps chase celebs like an animal, hunting them down and invading their privacy to earn some bucks. But when the paps get hunted and chased by an animal, they lose it. In the end, the actress wants to free herself from this painful life.

But does an animal ever changes its hunting nature? For Bo, all that mattered in the end was getting Sydney Alberti’s pictures for money, even if it was of her dead body.
The episode is now streaming on Netflix.
