Twenty Five Twenty One did not end as we expected and left us with many unanswered questions. This Nam Joo-hyuk and Kim Tae-ri starrer Kdrama gave us moments to smile and moments to cry for and made us nostalgic about our adolescent friendship and love. Twenty Five Twenty One is a youthful Kdrama starring WJSN singer Bona, Choi Hyun-wook, Lee Joo-myung, Seo Eun-kyung and Kim Hye-eun along with Kim Tae-ri and Nam Joo-hyuk.
Twenty Five Twenty One starts with Na Hee-do, a fencing player in high school. She has been in a slump since her father passed away but still working hard to get back in her game. Her mother works all day and hasn’t really been supportive of Hee-do, making her lonely. When Hee-do meets Baek Yi-jin, a college dropout, she starts finding hope in her life. Yi-jin’s family has gone bankrupt and he has been trying desperately to make money and bring his family back together.
As Hee-do and Yi-jin move ahead in their lives and career, they find love and friendship and face hurt and hardships together. Their heartwarming journey is full of moments that inspire you and gives you hope that everything will be alright in life. It also showed us that life does not always go how we want but it is still worth living. Here are the best quotes from Twenty Five Twenty One that will touch your heart.

1.
“Because you give me hope. And I want more for you. And it makes me want to do well, too.” – Baek Yi-jin
2.
“I can’t right now but I’m going to make it someday.” – Na Hee-do

3.
“Countless kids don’t know how to dream, but you do.” – Coach Yang
4.
“My diary from those days is filled with just love and friendship. A time when friendship and love were all that mattered in life. A time like that lasts only for a moment.” – Na hee-do

5.
“At times when I didn’t believe in myself, I believed in you who believed in me. That made things possible.” – Na Hee-do
6.
“You made me smile. With you, I felt like I was on top of the world even when I had nothing.” – Baek Yi-jin

7.
“If you’re waiting at the end of my misery, all of that misery was worthwhile.” – Baek Yi-jin
8.
“Whatever you do, or no matter how you look, I’m in love with you for who you are.” – Baek Yi-jin

9.
“The less you know about the person, the deeper the conversation gets.” – Ko Yu-rim
10.
“You should also meet someone like that. Someone who inspires you to improve just by being together.” – Yi-jin’s mom
The beautiful and innocent love story between Hee-do and Yi-jin that started when they were still young adults, ended painfully and with regrets as they ventured into the adult world where the sacrifice of one thing or the other is a given. Their relationship fell apart when Yi-jin moved to the USA. Yi-jin chose career over love and Hee-do chose mental peace over a dying relationship. Both of them once relied on each other but sadly, ended up being burdens to each other.
One of the saddest endings in the world of Kdramas did not give us answers to many questions. Whom did Hee-do marry? Did Yi-jin get married as well? Who is Min-chae’s father? We will never know unless they bring the next season.

I have my list of series endings that I wished were different. While watching this drama I thought that this ending will also go in that list but it didn’t, surprisingly. Until the very end where only 7 mins were left for the drama to end I was hoping (even though I knew what the end was) that maybe just maybe the writers would bring our hopes come true. I was in verge of tears. I was so much invested in the drama from the beginning that I thought my heart would explode (I binged watched this one). But as per my view the writers wrote the end scene so beautifully that even I along with both the leads mutually agreed to the ending of a very beautiful relationship (I’m talking about the scene where the adult Hee-Do reads what she and Yi-Jin wrote in that diary – what they actually wanted to say at the tunnel). For me that was their closure and it was one of the most beautiful closure I’ve seen. It was realistic – the whole drama was. I find it difficult to accept the fact when the leads end up with different character than the one I was rooting for. Like in Reply 1988 and Yumi’s Cell 2 (Still don’t know what will be the end. I want the Yumi-Woong to end together – rooting for them) – I wasn’t able to accept these endings, still don’t. But the writers of this show wrote that one scene I mentioned earlier and that really put my heart as ease (something that the writers of Reply 1988 writers couldn’t – for me at least). But maybe our generation is in need of such realistic endings – a happy endings. Where the perfect couples just couldn’t make it till the end at no one’s fault. The message that the world doesn’t end after breaking up with the person who we thought would be our whole world. It gets better as we can see in the case of Na Hee-Do. She is happy with her life. She has no regrets but have great memories of friendship and love. So even though I thought that this drama is going to depress me to the core of my heart it didn’t. Even though I loved the ending I really wanted to see Yi-Jin’s life. Did he get married? Is there someone in his life? What is Seung-Wan doing? Did she and Baek Yi-Hyun get together? Lots of unanswered questions for sure. And even if there is a second season coming (which I hope they do) I need them to really work on the plot as they did in this season. This whole plot really inspired me (very very much), made me laugh and also cry. Hope for the best.
