Behind Every Star episode 5 starts with a brawl on-set between Ho-san and Oh Na-ra, and as shooting stops, the director asks for the managers. Elsewhere, Je-in wakes up next to Sang-uk with the biggest smile on her face. It’s clear that she is smitten with him, and as she rushes out to meet Jung-don and clear up the feud between the above-mentioned actors, she can’t stop thinking about her blossoming relationship.

Meanwhile, Hyun-joo’s tiny ember of hope gets ruined when she realises that the birthday present that Tae-oh has given her isn’t for her but for a star. At the location, both the stars rant to their managers, but Je-in is in no mood for these petty feuds as she is glued to her phone screen like a love-struck teenager. Even Ho-san encourages her to talk to him, and she, in turn, encourages him to open his heart to Na-ra.

Back at the office, Tae-oh gets the disastrous news that one of their talents, Young-tak, will get cut out of a popular show rather abruptly. But, to be fair, he did do a deplorable acting job in the last episode. Tae-oh scrambles to stop this from happening, and Hyun-joo gets into motion to do something about it as well.

At the shoot, Je-in and Jung-don are given the shocking news that a kissing scene needs to be shot the next day between the leads, and it cannot be rescheduled in any way. The look on their faces makes it apparent that even they are not confident about their own actors. They, however, guarantee that the two of them will do an amazing job the next day, and the director promptly tells them that otherwise, he will not go through with further filming.

The managers barely convince the actors to do the kiss scene, and later on, much to Hyun-joo’s happiness, she wishes her a happy birthday. But the headache is not over for Je-in just yet as she finds her boyfriend naked in her hotel bathtub, and just minutes later, he slips and falls, leaving Je-in not only to handle two adults throwing a temper tantrum but also to handle her now-injured boyfriend.

She, however, seems to be thoroughly enjoying his vulnerability and slight clinginess and agrees that maybe his surprise visit isn’t such a bad thing after all. Meanwhile, Hyun-joo decides to mobilise Young-tak’s fans with the help of her mother so that the director is unable to fire him from the show.

As Je-in and Jung-don go out to have dinner together, he tries to have a genuine and private conversation about their relationship, but Je-in isn’t in the mood and hops off to her boyfriend, leaving Jung-don rather confused! Meanwhile, Hyun-joo and Jin-hyeok promise always to remember and celebrate each other’s birthdays.

The next morning, Jung-don is shocked to learn of the extra guest in Je-in’s room. He rushes into her room to find Sang-uk and chides Je-in for dating the tax investigator. Je-in, however, assures him that her love life won’t affect the agency and reminds him that the details of her private life aren’t any of his business. They fall out thanks to him saying unnecessary things to her, and she eventually gets out of the car and walks off.

At Method Entertainment, Tae-oh pats Hyun-joo on the back for the poster that she released for Young-tak and she can’t help but feel a sense of accomplishment. At the set, a rather shocking and spidery turn of events finishes a love-making scene between our forever feuding actors. The good shoot eventually culminates into Jung-don and Je-in making up as well, albeit he looks a tad bit heartbroken.

Back at the office, Tae-oh tells the staff at the meeting that he will be buying Method Entertainment, and thus they don’t have to worry about the company being sold or shut down. Things can, essentially, go back to normal. However, Je-in isn’t a fan of this situation and feels like Tae-oh had planned the entire thing since day 1. Unfortunately, this thought goes to the backburner as the filming site informs Je-in and Jung-don that the two actors are again causing delays, but this time, their extreme passion is causing all the issues!

Anyway, at Method, Young-tak barges into the office and starts to berate Hyun-joo for using a crying picture of him for the petition. Tae-oh takes Hyun-joo’s side, much to everyone’s shock, and eventually throws him out when the actor calls her ‘good-for-nothing’. This sudden concern for her leaves Hyun-joo speechless, and it seems like even Tae-oh is taken aback by his concern.

That night, Hee-sun and Jong-dun go out for dinner after he assures her that it wasn’t her fault that she was dropped from the film. However, it does seem like Jung-don is crushing hard on Je-in, who goes out of the office with Sang-uk. On the other hand, Tae-oh wishes Hyun-joo a belated happy birthday and agrees to have a drink with her to fulfil her birthday wish.

In turn, he misses out on seeing the musical with his family, and his wife is irate when she finds him drinking with Hyun-joo in the office. No amount of excuses, however, work on Eun-gyul and Eun-ha, who are certain that the two are having an affair. Eun-ha finally asks her husband to tell them clearly – what is Tae-oh’s relationship with Hyun-joo?

This series is just so hot and cold for me. Like, I enjoy some of the funnier scenes, and it’s generally light-hearted. But most of the time, I find the series to be a bit dull and a tinge boring. It’s such an odd mixture of different feelings for me. All and all, I did enjoy watching the episode, but I can’t help but wonder about the point of it all. The only interesting or minutely intriguing scenario is the relationship between Tae-oh and Hyun-joo and that, too, will be revealed in the next episode.

I do like the silly and light-hearted nature of the show. So if you’re not looking for anything too heavy or difficult, I guess the series makes for a good watch.
