Barry Season 3 Recap

The season starts with NoHo Hank arrested by the cops for interrogation regarding detective Moss’ death. Hank says that Raven, aka Fuches, is the killer, and he is a specialist of the Chechens. Initially, the cops don’t buy the story, but when they ask Gene about Fuches, they realise that Fuches has disguised himself as an investigator and tried to kill Gene. Hence the police believe that Fuches is the real criminal. However, Gene yells that ever since he met Barry, he has lost his acting class and Moss. Hence, he pieces that Barry might be the bad guy.

Speaking of Fuches, the Chechenya family has kept him safe in their mountains, and he is waiting for his call to return to America. Then, we also learn that NoHo Hank and Cristobal are secretly in a relationship, and now they’re trying to make the Bolivians and Chechens friends. Barry is unable to find assassin jobs since Fuches isn’t there. Hence he visits Hank and asks him to give him some work.

Hank gets pissed off at him for throwing in the pin he gave as a compliment at Moss’ death scene. Hank says that Barry can’t be forgiven, but rather he should try to earn Hank’s faith back. Barry then meets Gene, unaware of the latter’s murder plan. When Gene’s plan flops, Barry realises that the former has figured out the truth and holds him hostage. He takes him to various places where he has buried victims. Gene tries to persuade him that he won’t tell the police about Barry, but he resists and decides to captivate him.

Barry believes that if he can get Gene an acting job, he can make things right. Now that Sally has become an actress, Barry visits her at her workplace and rages at her. He screams at her for not getting Gene a job. This upsets Sally, and her co-star Haze believes Barry is a violent man and that Sally needs to let him go.

Hank recruits Barry to kill the Bolivians since they threaten to finish the Chechens. Hence Barry plants a bomb at the Bolivian Airbnb when Cristobal is out of town. Sadly, Barry fails to detonate the bomb. Meanwhile, Fuches goes to Ryan’s father (the first victim in the acting class in season 1) and confesses the truth about Barry killing him and replacing his son’s spot as an actor. Back at the Airbnb, Cristobal returns there and is confronted by his father-in-law, who is also the Bolivian mob head. Apparently, he has figured out Cristobal’s affair, and they pursue him. Cristobal runs away from them, and just then, the bomb detonates, killing everyone except Cristobal. Barry takes Cristobal to Hank.

Barry then gives a bag full of cash to Gene, apologises to him for holding him captive, and leaves for Sally’s premiere event. However, Sally breaks up with him and walks away. In the next scene, we’re shown a new detective assigned to find the killer behind Moss’s death, and he is none other than Barry’s marine colleague Albert, for whom he mistakenly killed a civilian. Cristobal’s wife, Elena, comes to LA to collect her father’s remains and asks why the mob didn’t protect her father, to which they reply that they all went out dancing.

Soon, Sally comes to Barry and breaks down after her show gets cancelled and Barry gives his suggestions to send a sleeping photo of the agent to her that will cause her to go insane. Cristobal’s wife, Elena, then invites Barry for dinner and poisons him. Barry enters a trance and hallucinates a purgatory area where he meets all the people he has murdered. Ryan’s father brings Barry to the hospital. While he initially planned to kill Barry, he ends up killing himself.

Sally then finds her co-star Natalie bagging a show with the idea that Sally gave. Sally goes nuts and bashes Natalie on the elevator, which brings down her reputation. Sally decides to post an apology video, but her agent stops her. Nevertheless, she still posts, but the video is more like telling her side of the story and not an apology. This causes an argument between Sally and her agent, leaving the latter to resign Sally from the agency.

Hank then goes to Bolivia in search of Cristobal (since he has gone missing) but gets kidnapped by Elena. Fuches arrives in America (previously, Hank called him and said it is safe for him to return) and gets a ride from Moss’ father. Surprisingly, Moss’ father drives straight to the police station, and Fuches is arrested. During interrogation, Fuches figures that the detective is Barry’s mate. Fuches indirectly opens up about Barry killing Chris (another marine mate) to Albert, making him furious.

When Sally and Barry are discussing threatening Sally’s agent, an assassin comes in to kill Barry. When Sally is choked to death, she takes a knife and stabs the assassin before brutally murdering him with a bat. When Barry tries to bury the assassin, Albert finds him and confronts him for killing innocent Chris. Barry breaks down, and Albert says that everything needs to stop “starting now.”

Meanwhile, to kill Hank, the Bolivians release a tiger. When a mob comes in, Hank beats him, takes his gun, and shoots the tiger. He then finds Cristobal tortured by Elena with a gay man, with current wires tapped to his head. Hank shoots Elena down and unites with his lover. At the same time, Moss’ father goes to Gene’s house and demands he tells the truth. Gene calls Barry and says that he is at Moss’ father’s place at gunpoint. Barry rushes to kill Moss’ dad; however, he realises Gene set him up along with the police.
