Barry Season 2 Recap: Fuches Tries to Set Up Barry

Barry killed Janice Moss in season 1, episode 8 and this makes the patrol team dig into who the killer behind all the murders are. Barry tries to lead his new aspiring actor life, but Fuches and NoHo Hank don’t leave him alone. Fuches is stuck in a mess after being saved by Barry because he feels he can’t nag him anymore. Hence he tries to replace Barry with another assassin, but the latter gets killed by the cops, and Fuches gets arrested. When Fuches is interrogated, he acts innocent, but the DNA result of his fingerprint in a soda can matches his broken tooth found at the place where Chechens held him captive.

Detective Loach figures that Barry and Fuches are partners, and he asks Fuches to make somehow Barry confess to killing Moss so that he can be left free of charge. Fuches invites Barry and tries to make him confess the truth, but the latter sense the weird act and leaves the home, making Loach and Fuches frustrated.

In Season 1, Barry killed Goran Pazar, which ultimately led NoHo Hank to become the Chechen head. Hank is now on good terms with drug lord Cristobal until Burmese crime family head Esther joined. Hank is forced to work with Esther, but he plans to kill her so that he can put Goran’s death blame on her (the Chechens think Hank killed Goran). Now that he needs a hitman, he seeks Barry, the real pal who actually murdered Goran Pazar.

Barry agrees to help Hank because the latter threatens him to leak the information behind Goran’s death. Meanwhile, Gene announces about closing the acting class but Barry changes his mind by explaining his Afghanistan crime story. Gene gets inspired by it and asks the class to write and perform a story based on it.

In the Burmese headquarters, Barry gets the Afghanistan shootout flashback, which leads him to fail at killing Esther. When Barry and Sally are working on their performance, bullets cave in. Barry follows the sniper and finds Hank and his men. Barry shoots the men and Hank asks the former to kill him. Barry offers Hank that he will train his soldiers as repayment for not killing Esther so that his men can carry out the job.

Barry, Sally, and Sam

Barry gets to know about Sally’s toxic ex, Sam. Sally wants to perform a piece inspired by her past relationship, which was toxic, but that isn’t the reality. Barry is asked to play Sam in the play, but he disagrees and storms out of the class only to bump into Sam.

Sam takes Barry and Sally for dinner, where the old couple are seen having a nice time, which triggers Barry. Sally then confesses the real truth behind her past relationship. In the rehearsal, Barry chases off Sam when he watches Sally. Before leaving, Sam insults Sally. Sally, unaware of Sam’s real intention, trusts him and pays a visit to his hotel as he is leaving out of town. Over there, Sam bullies Sally not to perform the play. When Sally comes out of the room, she almost gets shot by the bullet fired by Barry, which was to kill Sam.

Barry hates himself for his actions and confesses the truth behind Afghanistan shootout to Gene. Barry talks about killing an innocent civilian by mistaking him for the man who killed his fellow soldier. Gene assures him that this moment doesn’t define his personality. Barry feels strengthened and goes to meet Fuches. Previously, Fuches and Barry make up when the latter meets him for his opinion on his Afghanistan-based performance piece.

Barry is unaware that Fuches has a wire on him that tapes the conversation. Fuches tries to stop Barry from talking, but unfortunately, the latter confesses to killing Janice. Loach then comes in but surprisingly offers that if Barry can kill Ronny Proxin (the man for whom Loach’s wife left), he will drop the charges.

Barry tries to kill Ronny, but both he and his daughter Lili are martial arts experts. Surviving plenty of stab wounds and hits, Barry tries to escape with Fuches, but things don’t go as planned. The police execute a shootout when Ronny kills Loach. Now that Ronny and Loach are dead, Barry realises he can never escape from his assassin life until he is friends with Fuches.

Barry chucks Fuches, but the handler blackmails Barry with Janice Moss’ death. Fuches finds the dead body of Moss in her car’s trunk. On the other side, Barry finishes the training, and Hank gives him a pin that reads, “The debt has been repaid” in Russian. Barry then helps Sally finish her performance piece, and he also prepares to act as Sam.

It’s Not Over Yet

One of Hank’s men sells the leader to Cristobal and Esther, which leads Hank and his men to get thrown inside a bus drenched in Gasoline. A skilled Chechen soldier, Mayrbek saves them all, and she is appointed as the new Chechen boss replacing Hank.

Sally gets an acting offer, but when she notices it’s revenge porn, she drops it. She becomes envious when Barry gets offered a role with a director. Right before the audition, Barry gets a call from Gene that an investigator has come with details about Moss. The investigator is none other than Fuches in disguise.

Barry runs to stop Fuches from telling the truth, but it’s too late. Fuches leads Gene to Moss’ car and reveals the body. Fuches also takes Gene’s mobile, calls the cops, and impersonates Gene. He says that he (Gene) killed Moss and is going to suicide. Fuches tries to shoot Gene but he flees when the cops arrive. The cops arrest Gene and ask how Barry came to the spot, to which he replies that he heard someone sobbing. This makes the cops believe Gene is the killer.

Hank is dismayed after knowing about him getting replaced, and he again pleas Barry. Barry rejects the request, but Fuches aids. Fuches sorts things between Cristobal and Hank, leaving Esther scorning about it.

During the performance of Sally, she is troubled and doesn’t perform well. Gene is arrested and is nowhere to be found. These situations leave Barry to become extremely annoyed. Sally improvises her scene and walks off, but the audience actually loves it.

Surprisingly, Gene is cleared off because the cops find a Chechen pin in the car trunk, making them believe Gene isn’t the culprit. This is because Barry dropped Hank’s pin in the trunk when Gene was arrested.

Final Run

Barry gets notified by Hank that Fuches has come to the warehouse. Barry, on the verge of breaking his mind, goes to the warehouse and kills everyone on his way to Fuches, including Esther and Mayrbek. Barry realises that by the time he reaches, Fuches has eloped.

In the last episode, we’re shown the initial events where Esther was found dead with a special bullet. Now it’s clear that it’s actually Barry who killed her, repaying his debt to Hank. In the final scene, Barry wakes up in the night remembering Fuches whispering to him, “Barry Berkman did this,” while watching Moss’ body
