ATEEZ Ice On My Teeth MV is finally out, the title track from their 11th mini-album Golden Hour: Part.2, released on November 15, 2024. This marks their third comeback of the year, including their Japanese single, and it’s clear they’re not slowing down. Known for their ability to tackle any concept with ease, ATEEZ’s potential to adapt and experiment has always been a key part of their charm. This track, however, presents a unique blend of sultry, sophisticated production contrasted with lyrics that feel somewhat forced—highlighting the group’s impressive visual appeal while leaving the lyrical content a bit behind.
ATEEZ Ice On My Teeth MV Review
Visually, ATEEZ Ice On My Teeth is a total triumph. The music video boasts rich, luxurious visuals. One can see the eye-catching display right from the get-go, and all three aspects come together with a mafia-inspired vibe that is perfectly befitting ATEEZ. Members are dripping charisma in slipping into their characters, and that icy confident persona they portray matches flawlessly with the theme of the song.
The costumes are on point, and especially so for Yeosang and Yunho’s styling, so jaw-dropping. Their outfits seem sleek, bold, and effortless, which gives them a polished look that blends so well with their dancing. Surely, the styling team deserves countless accolades for coming up with this look so eye-catching; it adds another layer of intrigue to the entire MV.

Musically, Ice On My Teeth leans heavily on a sultry, trap-inspired instrumental. The track throws on this slow, heavy bottom mixed in with some deep orchestral elements, which gives the song an almost unusually refined feel. The production was a standout, as this one doled out some lush strings, creating a classically sophisticated contrast to otherwise laid-back vibes. This instrumental move places ATEEZ out of its comfort zone, creating something fresh and bold. This song carries the group’s signature swag but brings it in a more reserved approach that gives the listener the opportunity to appreciate the subtleties of this composition.
However, if the instrumental and visual aspects were impressive, the lyrics were not up to the mark. ATEEZ has certainly proven time and again that it’s one of the most versatile and capable groups to have emerged in K-pop, effortlessly executing whatever concept they take up. Yet, in Ice On My Teeth, a little of that capability goes wasted in the lyrics. The chorus, repeating the phrase “Ice on my teeth,” is catchy enough but, ultimately, devoid of any real depth or innovation that we’d seen up to now.

The line feels very abrupt, and the playful yet overly simplistic rhyme scheme (as the “tennis-tennis” line proves) takes away from that overall impact. It’s a shame, too because ATEEZ has shown so much lyrical range in the past—on cuts like Work from Golden Hour: Part.1 cheekiness was still fresh and riveting. As with the ear-catching hooks in BOUNCY or Crazy Form. In the Fever album, listeners would want to jump and dance to these tunes. This time around, though, the chorus isn’t quite as it should be.

Yet, on its own, the song is so catchy, especially as it fades out after the chorus. The lines are not particularly earth-shattering; they do have a sense of confident placing, though, and ATEEZ’s performance, as usual, makes the material shine. They radiate that type of charisma where even meagre lyrics become interesting, and their energy manages to keep the track alive. Its apparent aural takeaway is very much obvious, but the approach might have been more innovative with a better lyrical confluence.

The heart of it is how great the MV and production are, really bringing Ice On My Teeth to life. All and all the sultry, tongue-and-cheek vibe feels so right for ATEEZ as well who bring this concept to vivid life with a more than respectable flair. Lyric-wise, though, the song leaves much room for improvement. The visuals and the music take good steps for the team into a new direction, but parts of the chorus and some lyrical choices are bellowing for what fans have come to know them for. Still, this song is a strong addition to ATEEZ’s discography, their ability to evolve and try new things without losing their core identity.
