Things have started to click for Aoi once again. With a score of 0-3 against them in the first half, will Team B be able to recover with Aoi in the spotlight? Let’s find out more in this review of Aoashi Episode 12.

Aoashi Episode 12 Overview

aoashi episode 12- aoi Kuroda and Asari

Aoashi, also referred to as Ao Ashi, is a sports anime based on a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yūgo Kobayashi. It has been serialized in Shogakukan’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Big Comic Spirits since January 2015. It is being produced by Production I.G, who have great hits such as Guilty Crown, Psycho-Pass, Kuroko’s Basketball, Haikyuu!!, Psycho-Pass 3 and Moriarty the Patriot.

Ao Ashi follows the story of a third-year middle school student Ashito Aoi living in Ehime prefecture, a backwater town in Japan. Ashito seems to possess talent but has a very straightforward personality. Because of this, other players dislike playing with him. Finally, he was able to join an average team where he felt accepted and came into the eyes of the coach of the youth team, Tatsuya Fukuya. Aoashi proceeds to showcase his journey from here.

The anime is being directed by Akira Satou, who worked on previous projects such as Deadman Wonderland and Release the Spyce, with scripts written by Masahiro Yokotani, and Nakatake and Yamaguchi also serving as chief animation directors. This episode of the show is also known as Ao Ashi Episode 12.

Aoashi Episode 12 Review- We Are A Part Of One Team!

aoashi episode 12- players gearing up

The previous episode of Aoashi had Aoi trying to understand his fault on the field. With the existing tension amongst the first-year players of Team B on the field, the game starts off with a very rough start in the first half. However, Aoi is able to realize his missing basic skill. With him finally understanding and communicating with the other players on the field, their team starts to make up for their losses. Aoi has begun to sync with Kuroda and Asari, and together, the trio seems unstoppable!

With Aoi, Kuroda and Asari are able to perform well as well in Aoashi Episode 12. The essence of football is explained to be a trio- you can do anything on the field if you are a part of a trio. Three players together can manoeuvre the ball well- hence play soccer well. Aoi’s realization and using this skill is impressive as he got down to the nitty-gritty of the trio essence, applied it, and even improved upon it all with one half of a game. Such natural instincts show what a great eye coach-cum-manager Fukuda has.

Ao Ashi Episode 12 had many great moments. The low, anticipation-awakening background music in the first half, followed by spirited, upbeat music in the second, built up the scenes. From cleverly using animal narration to Aoi’s point of view, a lot of information was unpacked smoothly in this episode. The food animations are back once again and are just as good.

We see many character interactions in Aoashi Episode 12. Team B is finally starting to bond and looking like an actual team. Although I expected the other players like Togashi to get a bit of action time in the game, it was hilarious to see his gangster self even on the field. The off-field interactions are just as interesting as the on-field ones. Aoi humbled himself, learning and not blaming anyone else was a very mature growth. With the improving team dynamics, this episode increases the expectations for the future!
