Allergy Music Video by (G)I-DLE has finally dropped, and it is everything we ever hoped for. From a fun concept to a beautiful message, the latest track has it all. It is a pre-release track for their upcoming mini-album, I feel. Additionally, group member and leader Soyeon has produced the track.
The song opens with Soyeon sitting in front of a mirror and counting her insecurities. On another hand, a few members try to cope with the negative and mean comments on social media that ultimately affects their mental health. Moreover, to live up to society’s expectations of beauty standards, they go on to have cosmetic surgery to create a perfectly curated face.

Two sides are shown in the video, a privileged section of women who are perfect and another section who crave to look like them and live their fantasy lives. However, what one does not realise is beyond the glamour; their lives are empty and hollow. Even though they try to forget their problems by spending money and socialising with the elite class, they are still held down by their own insecurities created inside their minds.
The songs also speak volumes about how women’s empowerment is portrayed in the media during present times. Women are expected to look pretty, wear the trendiest clothes and display confidence every step of the way. Moreover, having a ‘perfect’ body is a must to look and feel like a ‘Queen’. The ones who do not go the extra mile to ‘serve’ looks are humiliated and treated like an outcast.

Due to the intense pressure, one is forced to go through a turbulent journey to change themselves completely to appear desirable. The constant need for validation from peers and social media has single-handedly ruined young minds. The message is fairly glossed over and provides an adequate picture of the message they wished to put forward.
Moreover, the vibrant costumes and make-up add to the elegance of the music video. The colour pink is thoroughly used to display a more feminine perspective and visual the cliched appeal. Additionally, camera work in vivid locations makes the music video stand out more.
The South Korean girl group is formed by Cube Entertainment, which debuted in 2018. It consists of five members: Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi and Shuhua.
