One of the best historical drama sequels of this year, Alchemy of Souls season 2 is finally making its return and the newly released teaser is all it took to skyrocket our excitement for what is to come! Starring Lee Jae-wook, Go Yoon-jung, Jung So-min, Hwang Min-hyun, Shin Seong-ho, alongside other cast members, the Kdrama is created by Park Joon-hwa, Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran.
With tvN releasing the first teaser for Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow, we are finally beginning the new chapter of our Daeho journey filled with magic, mystery and more. The new season is set to be filled with a lot of new elements, I mean with Jang Uk going dark in the upcoming season, the sequel is meant to shake us all.
However, it is not Jang Uk who is the biggest change in the new season and there is nothing that can be as big as the change in the female lead which we cannot help but cry over. But that doesn’t mean that this was not meant to happen or that the new lead is going to be any worse.

While we may have grown quite attached to our beloved Mu-deok, whose cute face is the complete opposite of the killer Naksu, the change is needed to bring out the dangerous vibe to the brink. And there is no one better than Go Yoon-jung to do this because let us admit, that little scene at the beginning of episode 1 really did steal our hearts.
Go Yoon-jung had already shown us the dangerous yet beautiful Naksu in season 1, however, with Jung So-min’s brilliant performance throughout the season a lot of us have forgotten the amazing killer that she is. Now with the new season, Go Yoon-jung is all set to once again bring out the magic of Naksu who was only a legend sung throughout Daeho in season 1.
However, there are many who have forgotten Naksu while indulging in the magic of Mu-deok, so here’s something to let you know who is Naksu.
Who is Naksu (Go Yoong-jun)?
The shadow assassin who is sought by investigators around Daeho as she goes around cutting the heads of mages, her name Naksu has been derived from what happens when she appears. When Park Jin gave her a life-threatening wound, she rushed into an inn where she performed the alchemy of souls and entered Mu-deok aka Jin Bu-yeon’s body.

Her original body was later burnt by Jin Mu while she continued with her life as Mu-deok and fell in love with Jang Uk. However, things don’t always go the way we want and Jin Mu made use of her being a soul shifter to take control of her mind with a magical artefact. Thus, Naksu was made to go on a rampage and she also ended up killing Jang Uk in the process.

The preview of season 2 showed Naksu once again making an appearance in her original body which made us excited to know what happened that made this possible.
New Characters in Alchemy of Souls Season 2
As of yet, we know that the new characters who are set to appear this season are members of the Seo family. Seo Yul is the only one who has been shown to be a part of the legendary family of the previous King’s Star (we are not counting the queen of Daeho).
Now, we will see other members of the Seo family which will consist of his uncle Seo Yoon-oh (Do Sang-woo) and another member Seo Eui-won (Kim Yong-jin) whom we don’t know much about.
Other than them, a lot of the old cast will be seen making an appearance once again. From the younger version of various characters to Jung So-min returning for a short appearance as Mu-deok. This time, we will finally get to say a proper goodbye to our beloved Mu-deok.
