Alchemy of Souls season 2 (Alchemy of Souls Part 2: Light and Shadow/ 환혼: 파트2) is the sequel of the Korean historical drama series directed by Park Joon-hwa and starring Lee Jae-wook, Jung So-min, Hwang Min-hyun, Shin Seung-ho, Yoo Jun-sang, Oh Na-ra and Jo Jae-yoon, alongside other cast members.

The sequel brings the story 3 years after the tragic ending we witnessed in season 1, and with Go Yoon-jung joining the cast as the new female lead. As Jang Uk becomes a hunter of the soul-shifters, a young woman, a prisoner in her own home, seeks his help to reclaim her freedom.

Alchemy of Souls season 2 takes over tvN’s Saturday-Sunday 9:10 PM KST timeslot previously held by Under the Queen’s Umbrella.

Alchemy of Souls Season 2 Plot

tvN’s synopsis of the upcoming season reads: “Jang Uk returns from death, and three years later, the story of the mages unfolds anew. Jang Uk becomes a hunter of the soul-shifters when a young woman, a prisoner in her own home, seeks his help to reclaim her freedom.”

Alchemy of Souls Season 2 Cast

Directed by Park Joon-hwa and written by the Hong sisters- Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran, the show stars Lee Jae-wook, Go Yoon-jung, Hwang Min-hyun, Shin Seong-ho, alongside other cast members.

Alchemy of Souls season 2 episode 8 has Bu-yeon realising her identity as Naksu and meeting the real Jin Bu-yeon who reveals to her that she will soon disappear. All this results in her making the decision to stay away from Jang Uk.

Meanwhile, Jang Uk leaves for the North fortress after Go Won asks him to leave if he doesn’t intend to fight for the throne and Jang Uk accepts this. However, Naksu’s behaviour leaves him speechless and hurt so he decides to be the one waiting this time.

Later, Jin Mu is ready to put his plan into action and begins by getting his hands on Jinyowon on the pretext that there is no one suitable to carry the burden of protecting it. Naksu lets him know that she is the heir of Jinyowon, but Jin Mu takes this as an opportunity to test her and puts her through a trial to show the strength of her divine powers.

After being sent to the place that keeps wraiths, Naksu is attacked by a wraith, however, Jang Uk arrives and saves her in time. But soon sees the blue soul shifter mark in her eyes and questions her about her identity.
