Alchemy of Souls Season 2 Overview

Alchemy of Souls season 2 (Alchemy of Souls Part 2: Light and Shadow/ 환혼: 파트2) is the sequel of the Korean historical drama series directed by Park Joon-hwa and starring Lee Jae-wook, Jung So-min, Hwang Min-hyun, Shin Seung-ho, Yoo Jun-sang, Oh Na-ra and Jo Jae-yoon, alongside other cast members.

The sequel brings the story 3 years after the tragic ending we witnessed in season 1, and with Go Yoon-jung joining the cast as the new female lead. As Jang Uk becomes a hunter of the soul-shifters, a young woman, a prisoner in her own home, seeks his help to reclaim her freedom.

Alchemy of Souls season 2 takes over tvN’s Saturday-Sunday 9:10 PM KST timeslot previously held by Under the Queen’s Umbrella.

Alchemy of Souls Season 2 Plot

tvN’s synopsis of the upcoming season reads: “Jang Uk returns from death, and three years later, the story of the mages unfolds anew. Jang Uk becomes a hunter of the soul-shifters when a young woman, a prisoner in her own home, seeks his help to reclaim her freedom.”

Alchemy of Souls Season 2 Cast

Directed by Park Joon-hwa and written by the Hong sisters- Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran, the show stars Lee Jae-wook, Go Yoon-jung, Hwang Min-hyun, Shin Seong-ho, alongside other cast members.

The series is set to have a 10-episode runtime and will release two episodes every week (Saturday-Sunday).

Seo Yul arrives to save So Yi from Ho-kyung while Heo Yoon-ok tries to create trouble between Jang Uk and Bu-yeon. While Bu-yeon almost fails in showing her place in the Jang household, Jang Uk holds her hand and supports her. Elsewhere, Seo Yul is determined to begin his last mission while someone becomes aware of the bloodworm that is inside his body and not So Yi’s.

Alchemy of Souls season 2 episode 5 brings Seo Yul reveals why the bloodworm cannot be removed from his body while Bu-yeon brings about a sense of familiarity to Jang Uk which keeps him puzzled. He later finds out the true motives of the queen and Jin Mu after which master Lee comes to him with a request to infiltrate Jinyowon which he rejects.

Elsewhere, Ho-kyung asks Bu-yeon to bring Jang Uk to Jinyowon which he follows after mistakenly rejecting it. Elsewhere, Park Jin finally proposes to Kim Do-ju while Seo Yul finds out that the real Jin Bu-yeon is the blind girl from Sari village who is none other than Mu-deok.

Seo Yul then leaves to save So Yi after getting this information from her, while Jin Mu threatens the crown price to get the firebird from Jinyowon. As Jang Uk and Bu-yeon make their way to Jinyowon, he cannot help but feel a sense of familiarity with her once again.
