Against The Ropes Ending Explained
All the while, Angela and Rocio’s bond gets improved via Bride in Black’s advice (who is none other than Angela’s other identity). Yet, Angela still couldn’t connect with Rocio as a mother as Candy does. Hence, Angela prepares herself to defeat Candy in the final match, but before that, she discovers various truths that disrupt her end goal.
First, she figures out that when she was arrested for the drugs, it belonged to Malena’s boyfriend. Malena, who knew about it, didn’t let the cops know that, and it eventually caused Angela to be locked up for 6 years. Brokenhearted, Angela fights Malena in the last episode and asks about the incident. Malena says her boyfriend threatened to hurt Angela’s family if she told the truth. However, Angela doesn’t buy her story and asks her never to look at her anymore.

In the same episode, Refugio discovers that Anibal (Angela’s father) isn’t dead. She asks him for the truth, and he says that Victoria (Angela’s mother) demanded that he walk out of their lives since he cheated on her with Refugio. On hearing this, Angela breaks down because she visited her father’s tomb all her life.
Angela tries to focus on the final match with Candy, but she struggles to stop thinking about her best friend’s betrayal and her mother’s life. Refugio, who is also Angela’s coach, explains to her that her focus must be on defeating Candy so that she can win Rocio’s heart. Angela builds her courage and knocks Candy, but Candy’s coach has already bought the wrestling referee. Hence, he announces the wrong results.

Nevertheless, the crowd deliberately saw how Candy cheated on the match, and they discourage her. Speaking of Candy, she found out that Bride in Black is none other than Angela; hence she plans to rip her mask so that Rocio will hate her mother completely. But in the end, something beautiful happens.
When the MC asks Bride in Black to remove her mask, she does it with fear, believing that Rocio will no longer live with her. But, to her surprise, Rocio plays the drums and yells, “Bride in Black,” and the crowd starts to chant the same. Candy feels ashamed for doing such an act. Angela wins the crowd, her boyfriend Lalo and most importantly, her daughter Rocio’s trust and love. The series ends with Angela crying happy tears.

Against the Ropes‘ plot was really well-written and captivating, thanks to the wonderful costumes, dialogue, humour and music. The ending could have been a little different, like showing Angela’s next plans but the current ending with her smiling victoriously also made sense.
