Single’s Inferno Season 5 Review

Netflix’s favourite dating reality show is finally here, and there’s an excitement in the air that I just can’t get over. Every season, the series comes with its own set of expectations, and Season 5 brings some stunning people before our eyes, who leave us mesmerised from the first moment.

With bolder flirting, more candour and some very interesting cast of characters, this season is off to an exciting start. First off, there are more contestants this season, which makes this more exciting because you have multiple personalities to watch and understand. It also gives the contestants leeway to choose from a bigger pool instead of fighting over one man or woman, like in previous seasons.

I think this season does a great job with contestants, which adds a lot of intrigue and drama to the show. It starts rather sweetly, and everyone’s constantly awkward and blushing around one another. Still, as things progress and the contestants’ real personalities come out, things get more heated and very competitive. The character dynamics are also interesting, and although there are some similarities, I think the characters help to differentiate them from others.

Again, this season is incredible because of the hosts, who are, as always, a delight. Kyuhyun, Hanhae, Lee Da-hee, Dex and Hong Jin-kyung continue to share fantastic chemistry, which makes their conversations natural and funny, and it feels like you are in the room with them, discussing the contestants and who likes whom. I think this has always been the most entertaining part of the show from the first season, and it’s been a recurring delight to watch.

Single’s Inferno Season 5 feels more genuine and honest than the last two seasons, which were quite the bummer to watch. Although it’s obviously scripted, the feelings, the humour and the banter feel more genuine than the last few seasons. I found myself on the edge of my seat as the drama unfolded and people behaved in shocking ways constantly. The drama with Mina Sue, although getting the ire of the general public, has been the most entertaining thing I have seen in a while, and it has also been enjoyable to watch the other contestants fight for what they want.

Moreover, the games this season have been quite spirited and played well, with the women coming out on top for me, leaving me to scream as they competed against one another. It shone a different light on some of the contestants and left me intrigued about them and the escalating tension as the series progressed has been nothing short of entertaining.

Single’s Inferno Season 5 has brought back reality show drama to the screen in believable ways. Although there are many dating shows out there, this one captures the competition and the drama together well and never overdoes either. This season has been a tense watch as the competition grew more and more intense, and the ending might just leave a lot of viewers completely shocked!
