Pro Bono Episode 3 Recap

Today’s episode begins with David finding out about the man who essentially framed him in the first place. He gets to know that there is a deeper conspiracy working against him than he first understood, and he will have to go to the bottom of this case to understand what truly happened. There is a chance that he was betrayed by his own secretary, who was so supportive of his actions. After that, we see that at the court during the hearing of the dog’s case, David gets praised by everyone, and Gi-ppeum almost falls for him.

Though the moment she thinks she is falling for him, his actions make her question her own interests. Later, when David advises that they take cases that also make money, his team members become extremely angry and forcefully take him to an LGBTQ+ campaign where they show support for everyone. Later, David gets a very unique case where a child, Gang-hun, comes and finds him to complain about his birth.

He wishes to file a case against God for letting him be born as someone with a paralysed lower body. This breaks David’s heart, but at the same time, he knows that it is not possible for him to fight a case like this. This is why he just tells Gang-hun to go home.

While drinking with his colleagues, David recalls how he first started out as a judge. Here, it becomes clear that the reason why he wants to fight more cases with successful clients is that he doesn’t want to think about all the bad things that have happened to him in the past. He sees himself in the victims, and that is why he wants to escape that scenario.

We also see that David has been keeping tabs on his secretary to see whether she was forced to go against him. Gang-hun comes back to David’s office again, and now he just stays there to not only disturb him but also to make him officially his lawyer. However, when Gang-hun’s Mother comes to pick him up, she also beats him in front of everyone. This is clearly a case of child abuse, but Gang-hun refuses to leave his mother and go into care with someone else. At the team dinner that day, David gives a reality check to everyone in his team, especially Gi-ppeum, pointing out how unrealistic her aspirations are.

She also kind of agrees that maybe taking the case will not mean anything, and then we get to see her past from her perspective. Thus, rather than wallowing in self-pity, Gi-ppeum decides to do a lot of research about Gang-hun and even goes to his mother to ask her questions about his birth. Finally, Gi-ppeum comes up with a case where they can sue the hospital, which refused an abortion to Gang-hun’s mother, who had been drinking and living a reckless life when she was pregnant.

The way David handled this case again showcases just how brilliant he is. The series is really interesting, and he’s the one who makes the series a lot more entertaining with his presence and wit. I really like this episode and how it showcased such a complex case that involved a delicate matter.
