The Hunt: The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case Review
In The Hunt, we are given a close and personal breakdown of every step that investigators took on their path to bring Rajiv Gandhi’s assassins to justice. Frought with political hindrances at every step, the series is surprisingly tense and thrilling, and although one might think a historical show will feel boring or dull, the cast and crew make sure to hold on to the mystery even if viewers have an inkling of what’s going on.
I am not a big fan of political or historical dramas, but the tense atmosphere and the nuanced storytelling are infectious, and viewers will have a field day dismantling the complicated web of mysteries in this series. Several characters make this series worth watching, and despite the cast of characters, everyone holds their ground. That’s probably one of the best parts of the show; from SIT Chief D.R. Kaarthikeyan to LTTE leader Sivarasan, everyone holds their ground thanks to the strong characters and how well they are acted.

Every moment in the series is tense and you wait with bated breath, wondering what’s coming next. Despite knowing the outcome, you still look forward to seeing the characters’ reactions and how the perpetrators got away with their crimes for as long as they did. The recreation of history is done extremely well, and viewers who like watching non-fiction shows would find themselves arrested.
The storytelling is nuanced, and not everything is spelt out. That’s one thing that most SonyLIV shows get right – they leave some things for the viewers to come to their own conclusions. There’s some humour in the mix as well, and although it’s very less, viewers will find it delightful. However, most of the series is a thrilling watch, full of anticipation and dread.
Final Thoughts

The Hunt: The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case is a delightful crime procedural series that will leave you interested from its first episode. The cast and crew do a commendable job of keeping us interested in what happens next, although the end result might be a little disappointing. But that’s history.
