My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Episode 2 Recap

My Hero Academia Vigilantes Episode 3 Review: Still

The last episode had the appearance of fan-favourite Eraserhead, who suspects that Mr Knuckle might be a villain due to his strange behaviour. Not one to back down, Knuckle challenges Eraserhead to a fight, showing zero concern for the fact that he’s up against a pro hero. What starts as a simple confrontation quickly escalates, with both fighters going all out.

Even though Eraserhead is technically off the clock, he activates his quirk to gain the upper hand, only to discover that Knuckle isn’t using a quirk at all. This twist reveals that Knuckle is quirkless, yet still incredibly powerful. It’s an intriguing reversal of the original story, where Midoriya lacked a quirk and his mentor had powers.

Once Eraserhead realises this, he chooses to de-escalate. But just as things seem to settle, a new twist shakes things up as the person they thought was innocent turns out to be connected to the distribution of a dangerous drug. Pop Step decides to chase after him, leading to one of the most intense and visually exciting battles in the episode.

Today’s episode starts off on a pretty light note where we see Mr Knuckle has already made Koichi’s home his abode. Apparently, he got in via the window even though he did not have a key. Not just him, even Pop Step comes in like it is her place and now they all hang out at Koichi’s place and don’t even care to ask him. Koichi also has understood that they will do whatever they want hence he doesn’t bother telling them off.

In this episode, we also see that Pop Step is actually a high school student who is pretty plain in her daily life. She is leading a double life where she is a normal teenager, but also a pop sensation. Later, we see her in one of her street-side concerts when a villain attacks her. Apparently, he is a fan who wants to shake her hand, but his conduct quickly went way out of Pop Step’s comfort zone. Plus, the fact that he is using the drug that villains are using to get stronger does not help the case at all.

Thankfully, that is when Koichi and Mr Knuckle come to save the day. Later, Pop Step and Koichi further go to uncover the secrets behind this drug and on the way, meet a very upbeat fan of Pop Step. She even asks for a selfie and surprisingly, she later reveals herself to be a part-time villain with a quirk called Queen Bee. She is the one who is responsible for turning everyone into a villain by spreading that drug through bee stings.

Today’s episode was again very interesting and engaging as it effectively spreads the lore of the My Hero Academia world. Even though the plot is not as entertaining as the original franchise, it is still a very good continuation. As of now, Koichi and the other characters have proven to be very likeable and hopefully, they will continue to be great additions.
