The Night Agent Season 2 Review
Netflix’s The Night Agent Season 2 is a test of patience but has surprisingly entertaining moments that left me thrilled from time to time. The best thing about the series is that it takes itself quite seriously, so much so that you can sit back and relax and not take things as seriously! The second season follows Peter once more as he finds himself in quite the pickle after a missing in Bangkok goes bad and his partner is murdered. He then goes on the run to hopefully find the truth behind this entire thing.
The thing with shows like The Night Agent is that they are a dime a dozen and don’t have a lot that differentiates them from others. Its storyline and twists are quite stale, convenient and repetitive so it mostly depends on its good performances and its action sequences to deliver the punches. Listen, the storyline is half-decent, but it never reaches that magnitude of thrill or intrigue to make you sit up and take notice. The series’ dialogues and situations are funny at best and cringy at worst, making you feel rather cheated out of 10 hours of your life.

However, all my cons about the series ultimately won’t matter because The Night Agent delivers what it promises – a forgettable entertainer that is quick to the punches and delivers an extensive plot that twists here and there enough to leave us moderately hooked. Regardless of the convenience or the annoyingly apparent twists, there’s something very comforting in watching an action-thriller we almost know everything about and with interesting characters, the experience is more than just tolerable. At times it does make you roll your eyes, especially with the cringe dialogues, but the series is ultimately watchable enough to be enjoyed dare I say in one sitting and then forgotten.
Interestingly, the series brings Arienne Mandi’s Noor to the series, giving us a different plot point that, obviously, comes together with the main plot to give us something more interesting. I think I will dare to even say that the painfully generic plot of The Night Agent Season 2 works for it surprisingly well and gives us something entertaining. I think I enjoyed season 2 a bit more than its first entry because it gets a bit more complicated and expansive and builds on its characters a bit more. In spite of its flaws, it does deliver a lucrative experience that kept me going from one episode to another surprisingly easily.

I think the reason why this series works is because it’s delivered really well. The generic storyline that makes you roll your eyes looks and feels real and tight-knit because the creators do a fantastic job of creating this world and landing the execution with utmost precision. Its high production value, coupled with some good acting makes it stand out among other mediocre action-thrillers on the platform. I think viewers will find themselves thoroughly annoyed at some points, especially with Noor’s past, but it gets over quickly enough to ignore it.
The series brings forth some new and some old characters to the forefront that add some much-needed spice to the watchability of the show. Every actor does a fantastic job with their characters and delivers on-point performances that add a lot to the stale plot. Gabriel Basso is fantastic as always and plays the rough but softie-at-heart agent well. We see the different side to him this season and his moral ups and downs are nice to go through. Arienne Mandi and Luciane Buchanan as Noor and Rose have quite the meaty roles and do them justice quite well.
Final Thoughts

The Night Agent Season 2 reuses the same tried and tested parts of action-thrillers but showcases them well enough to leave you watching till the end. It’s a thoroughly forgettable show but at least there’s some thrill and anticipation to make it amusing. However, at 10 hours, the series does test your patience a bit.
