6 Worst Anime Of 2024: What Went Wrong?

Worst Anime Of 2024: This year, we got some great anime that deserve the hype it gets, whereas there have also been some disappointing additions. Some shows just did not live up to everyone’s expectations, either from the animation or the storyline perspective.

But let us be clear, liking something is indeed subjective, and we have picked shows only because a majority of fans felt these could have been better. So, if you loved these, who are we to judge? Now, without further ado, let us jump right into this list of the worst anime of 2024 and understand what went wrong with them.

6 Worst Anime Of 2024: What Went Wrong?

Ninja Kamui

This show went from the coolest original anime ever to a big and boring disappointment in a flash. It is almost as if the first few episodes were bait to lure fans in as the quality slowly deteriorated and became heavily reliant on CGI towards the end.

The story was pretty interesting as we witnessed the journey of a defector ninja who comes back for revenge against his old organisation after they do something heinous with him. However, the interesting setup gradually faltered, leaving us with a bland conclusion, forgettable villains and monotonous fights.

I truly enjoyed the first few episodes, but it is a shame that things became inconsistent the more it went on.

Bucchigiri?!

This one is another prime example of something that started off pretty promising but then fell face first the more it went on. First of all, the studio is Mappa, so the animation was great throughout. However, the story had absolutely no foundation and failed to provide any explanations for why events unfolded as they did.

We start this show by following Arajin, a weak high schooler who suddenly gains tremendous power with the help of a genie, Senya. However, as the story progresses, none of the questions get answered, and the build-up leaves you disappointed. On top of that, we get served an unfinished and underwhelming conclusion that does not excite you for a second season.

Uzumaki: Spiral into Horror

It is a mystery how the makers managed to mess up an anime like Uzumaki, which only had four episodes and was produced by Production I.G. This was highly anticipated as it is a masterpiece crafted by the genius horror manga author Ito Junji.

Here, the story follows the strange incidents happening in a town where the people get infected with the spiral shape. The animation looked as if the manga chapters itself have gained motion, and I genuinely liked the uniqueness of it. However, slowly, even that quality entirely worsened.

I really think four episodes could not do justice to the entire story, so just read the manga.

Tower Of God Season 2

A story like Tower Of God is very difficult to adapt into an anime cause it has an intricate and complex world-building. This issue of not understanding what was happening in the show was also a problem with the first season, but one could watch it and enjoy it because of the brilliant animation.

However, the animation factor that actually attracted the audience towards this anime was completely thrown out of the window in the second season. The storyline suffered greatly due to poor adaptation, major plot cuts, and other shortcomings, confusing us about the world and its characters. Again, I will just suggest you go and read the webtoon.

Metallic Rouge

This anime had everything from good animation to a well-written storyline. However, with only 13 episodes at hand, one cannot cramp in too much information and expect viewers to enjoy it.

The concept was pretty good, considering it is about a world and a timeline where humans have colonised Mars. You can also find interesting concepts like AI, nicely choreographed action, sci-fi, etc. However, integrating all these concepts seamlessly requires time and careful execution to ensure they make sense, which they fail to do.

Suicide Squad Isekai

When a Suicide Squad anime was first announced, everybody wondered how the characters could fit in with the Isekai set-up. However, we still looked forward to it because of the intense publicity it got and the hype it enjoyed. But, it soon died down when everyone realised how basic the storyline was going to be.

The animation is pretty good, and the characters, already having a strong legacy, are likeable. But the problem lies with the plot, which, from start to finish, is all over the place.

What do you think? Do you agree with this list? If not, let us know what anime was the worst in 2024, according to you.
