Netflix’s latest Turkish crime thriller 10 Days of a Curious Man (Merakli Adamin 10 Günü) tells the story of a private investigator turned jaded writer who is caught in a case of a missing woman. The story looks into his adventure as his curiosity pulls him into the case which he sees as a good mystery that can be penned down. The film interests viewers and makes them just as curious as the man, but it leaves you wondering what just happened.

10 Days of a Curious Man Review
The film begins with chaos surrounding a neighbourhood where buildings are catching on fire frequently. Sadik Adil Öçal lives in this very neighbourhood and has been struggling with publishing a good mystery novel for years now. Facing another rejection for his work, he gets curious when the woman who fed cats in front of his house suddenly disappears. Overtaken by this curiosity, he begins looking for her while dealing with another case where he is the victim.
The film takes us through an intriguing case, which I have to say was quite twisted and could make anyone curious. What started as a simple missing case turns into something big under Sadik’s eyes as he pays attention to the minor details surrounding the woman. The plot twists are just as interesting to the viewers as it is to Sadik, and the sudden epiphany he has at some moments makes his eyes sparkle.

However, this doesn’t mean that the plot will not confuse you. The scenes will be confusing at times while you go through moments when things are just not making any sense. The shift in the scenes, the people, and the characters’ backgrounds can be quite confusing. But this may also be because this is the third film of a trilogy and would require me to watch the first two movies to truly understand the characters.

Coming to the characters, I love the sudden shifts in personalities Sadik shows as he presents himself in ways the situation demands of him. The sheer confidence in the man, as he talks with some bigwigs and drowns them in fear, is simply marvellous, though also frightening. He is swift and thorough in the way he does things, which will frighten you because of how easily he builds up a story for the crimes he commits.
But this will not justify the messed up relationship he has with his lover, the sudden change from him being an investigator to a killer who is bringing justice. Again, his relationships with others cannot be spoken about much as I haven’t watched the other films of this trilogy.
Moving to the mystery plot, you will need a moment to understand what is happening or else you are doomed to not understand the plot until the end. While the final scenes reveal the mystery (which I am not personally satisfied with), you can also see that the case was nothing more than a muse for him to write a new novel. This just makes you think what even was the point of everything that happened until now?

Altogether, this is a film that leaves me with a confused feeling as I am unsure if it was worth the watch, or if was it just a waste of time. This is a film that can be enjoyed by a select few, which means that it depends on the audience if they would like it.
Summing Up
Overall, the characters were intriguing and the mystery was filled with interesting twists. It feels like you are watching some investigation show with a character who is slowly turning into something else. The film is something that can be enjoyed by some, however, it isn’t for everyone.
Watch 10 Days of a Curious Man on Netflix.
