Romance in the House Episode 4 Recap

The episode opens with a memory from when Mi-rae was closer to her father and spent some carefree days learning how to ride a bicycle from him. Back in the present, the tension between them is almost chilling as Mi-rae avoids every chance she gets to deny her connection to Moo-jin.

Meanwhile, Ae-yeon takes a stance when Jin-hee tries to apologise to her. Later, she runs into Moo-jin and asks him why he did not tell his sister about purchasing the villa. Moo-jin is in shock and tries to give an excuse, but Ae-yeon is not easy to fool and wonders what he meant when he previously told her how hard it was for him to reach this stage.

Elsewhere, Tae-pyung has a little scene with his father when he comes to his house without any notice, but the love between them is visible through their actions. Later, he comes across all of Mi-rae’s awkward moments with her neighbours and later helps her release the built-up annoyance by having her punch some wooden boards in his Taekwondo class.

Moo-jin tells Jae-geol how easy it was to get the doubts of the tenants cleared by spending some money, believing that no one was paying attention to him anymore. However, one tenant has still not given up on investigating Moo-jin and it is Lee Jeong-hyeok. Later, a drunk Moo-jin comes across Tae-pyung and Mi-rae walking together and his actions cause Mi-rae to burn up in anger once again.

She asks Tae-pyung for advice on how to defeat an opponent and heeds his advice her way the very next day. She begins to behave like she normally did before Moo-jin’s return while occupying every bit of her mother’s time, leaving her no chance to meet Moo-jin. The competition between the two intensifies when Moo-jin finds himself losing to the daughter who became the head of the household.

Upon noticing this, Hyeon-jae confronts Mi-rae and tells her how he was never asked when his parents divorced, which makes Mi-rae realise some of her own mistakes. He tells her that maybe it was her who got in between them all along, making her reconsider her thoughts. Meanwhile, Ae-yeon overhears Jae-geol talking about ruining Moo-jin and taking all his money.

Elsewhere, Mi-rae is applauded for her work while her co-workers ask her about the CEO’s son who could’ve been the reason for her rise in the upcoming days. Tae-pyung overhears this and apologises to her but Mi-rae is not one to think too much about this as she is aware of her work.

On the other hand, Ae-yeon is attacked in a dark alley and leaves her phone there. Unaware of what has happened to her, Mi-rae buys a refrigerator for her mother, while Moo-jin buys a bag for her. When he comes across Mi-rae downstairs, he notices Ae-yeon’s call and upon calling back, he finds out that something has happened to Ae-yeon.

The family rushes out to find Ae-yeon’s whereabouts, during which Mi-rae gets a call from the police. The trio head to the station where they find Ae-yeon unharmed and find out that the person whom Moo-jin taught a lesson the last time for harming Ae-yeon, had tried to harm her again.

When he caught Ae-yeon, the latter screamed, which attracted Jin-hee and Yoo Se-ri’s attention, and the three women ended up abusing the man. While the three are unscathed, Mi-rae learns the importance of Moo-jin in their family and how she led him out of their home in the past. Understanding the look on Mi-rae’s face, he sends Ae-yeon with Hyeon-jae while following Mi-rae.

He stops her when she notices his presence and thanks her for all the work she did, while apologising for everything he put her through. However, he hopes that she will be able to rest now as he is back. However, the years of endurance have made Mi-rae unable to move on as she tells him that she didn’t want to be like him this whole time and lead the family the way he did.

He assures her that she is not like him, and with tears in his eyes, he leaves. She continues to walk and finally finds a place to let her tears out. Tae-pyung once again walks past her during this time and when the rain starts to pour, he brings an umbrella to hide her, telling her that he is hiding her from her neighbours and nothing more.

The final scene shows Ahn Jeong-in looking at her picture with Moo-jin, pointing at a history that the two share.

Romance in the House Episode 4 Review

The plot is getting intense as our curiosity towards Moo-jin’s life during his years of disappearance grows, along with the reason behind his current wealth. The curiosity of the neighbours is surely moving onto us as we too want to know what happened to him in recent years. Similarly, is the somewhat shady character of his friend, Jae-geol, who is surely up to something.

Meanwhile, Mi-rae and Moo-jin’s characters are thoroughly shining in this show, but Ae-yeon’s hard and soft character is no less interesting. Similarly, we’ve seen something more in Hyeon-jae’s character too this time, as he shows the sadder side to his self who had to go through his parent’s getting divorced without being asked for his opinion.

Finally, the romance between Mi-rae and Tae-pyung is soon to begin and we are excited to see this side of the plot while hoping that Mi-rae gets the love and support she deserves. The girl seriously needs a break, but before that, she needs to know that she needs a break and be acceptable towards it.

Altogether, this was yet another interesting episode and we are looking forward to how the plot moves from here on.
