Iron Family Kdrama: Geum Sae-rok Confirmed to Join Kim Jung-hyun in New Dark Comedy Drama

KBS2 has officially confirmed that actress Geum Sae-rok will star in the upcoming series Iron Family Kdrama alongside Kim Jung-hyun. The announcement, made on July 18, has stirred excitement among fans eagerly awaiting the show’s premiere. This dark comedy, is written by Seo Sook-hyang, renowned for her work on popular dramas such as Pasta, Don’t Dare to Dream and Wok of Love. The drama (다리미 패밀리) will be directed by Sung Joon-hae, known for his directorial prowess in Hi! School – Love On and Home For Summer. With this talented team at the helm, this drama promises to deliver a captivating and humorous narrative.

The storyline centres around a family that has been running a laundry business for three generations. Their mundane life takes a turn when they come into unexpected money, allowing them to iron out the wrinkles in their lives and chase their dreams. The series aims to blend humour with heartfelt moments, providing viewers with an engaging and relatable narrative.

Geum Sae-rok Confirmed to Star In Iron Family Kdrama

Geum Sae-rok is set to play the role of Lee Da-rim, the youngest daughter of the family. Da-rim has faced numerous challenges in life, including an incurable disease that has progressively impaired her vision since she was 14 years old. Despite her visual impairment, Da-rim remains courageous and confident. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she miraculously discovers a cure for her disease, only to be met with the dauntingly high cost of treatment. Da-rim’s resilience and determination are at the heart of her character, making her a compelling and inspiring figure.

The drama also stars Kim Jung-hyun as Seo Kang-joo, the managing director of Jiseung Group, and INFINITE’s Sungyeol as Choi Hyung-chul, a lieutenant at the Cheongrim Police Station. Kim Jung-hyun’s character, Seo Kang-joo, reunites with Da-rim after eight years, rekindling their connection and shared memories. The cast lineup also includes Choi Tae-joon and Yang Hye-ji, further adding to the drama’s appeal.

Iron Family is slated to premiere on September 14, 2024, and will consist of 36 episodes. The drama’s blend of dark comedy, family dynamics, and personal struggles is set to captivate audiences, making it one of the most anticipated K-dramas of the year. Fans are eagerly looking forward to seeing the chemistry between Geum Sae-rok and Kim Jung-hyun and how their characters navigate the challenges and triumphs of life.
