Make Mate 1 episode 9 is set to premiere this week, marking another exciting episode in the ongoing South Korean reality competition, billed as the new 5th Generation K-pop Boy Group Debut Project. Created by KBS in collaboration with Makestar, Make Mate One has captured audiences since its debut in May, with new episodes airing every Wednesday.
Unlike traditional survival shows that typically feature trainees from established entertainment agencies, Make Mate One (메이크메이트원), stands out by showcasing the journeys of 36 diverse contestants, all aspiring idol trainees without agency ties. The show aims to discover a new boy group that not only captures hearts but also redefines industry norms.
At the helm of this groundbreaking series is a distinguished judging panel from the K-pop world. EXO Xiumin leads as the host, supported by Solar, renowned vocal coach Lim Han-byul (Onestar), dance expert Kim Sung-eun, and rap mentors Hanhae, Vata, and Ingyoo. Together, they bring their extensive knowledge and expertise to guide and mentor the contestants, ultimately selecting the standout group that will make waves in the industry. Brief Make Mate 1 Episode 8 Recap
The episode begins with the announcement of rankings following the conclusion of round 2’s mission. These rankings are determined by combining scores from the second online vote with the round 2 scores. As the final challenge of round 2, some contestants unfortunately face elimination from MA1. It was revealed that four contestants would be eliminated based on round 2 results.
However, two of these contestants have a chance to survive through a Mate Pass. The remaining 22 members will discuss and choose two eliminated participants whom they wish to bring back via the Mate Pass. Following this, the Change Mission rankings are announced, where scores from 300 audience members, evaluations by the six C mates, benefits received, and the second online vote scores are all considered in determining the rankings.
The Meta Group awarded the Mate B Group the benefit, resulting in the entire group gaining 500 points. This boost in points will enhance their ranking. Among the top 9, Jang Hyuun-joon secured 1st place, followed by Bing Fan at 2nd, Noh Ki-hyun at 3rd, Jeon Joon Pyo at 4th, Lin at 5th, Jo Min-jae at 6th, Han Yu-seop at 7th, Yoon Jae-Yong at 8th, and An Xin at 9th. Four contestants—Jung Jae-yong, Seo Ji-ho, Lee Jang-hee, and Lee Do-ho—were initially eliminated, but thanks to the Mate pass, Jung Jae-yong and Seo Ji-ho were saved.
