Brief I-LAND 2 Episode 9 Recap
The episode commenced with the announcement of the rankings of the 12 I-LANDERS following their first test in part 2. Bang Jeemin emerged as the top scorer with an impressive 195 out of 200, securing the first position. Following closely, Koko secured the second ranking, while Jeong Saebi claimed the third spot in the BLACK MADE TEST. Conversely, Son Juwon found himself at the 12th position. Subsequently, the contestants moved their respective beads, with the top 6 contestants granted access to the luxury room while the rest settled for the basic accommodations.

Following this, everyone convened in the lobby where the next mission was unveiled – the main position test. Participants would be divided into four position units to perform. Individual ranks would be determined by a combination of producer scores and on-site I-Mate scores, each contributing 50%. The selection of test units was left to the producers, revealing four distinct units.
The first unit comprised the Main Vocal position, contested between Choi Jungeun and Yoon Jiyoon, with Beyonce’s If I Were a Boy as the chosen song. The second unit focused on the Main Rap Performance, featuring Koko and Nam Yuju, performing CL’s SPICY. Next, the Main Dancer Position unit included Kim Sujung, Son Juwon, Bang Jeemin, Mai, and Jeong Saebi, dancing to LISA’s MONEY. Finally, the All-Rounder position unit showcased Fuko, Kim Gyuri, and Ryu Sarang, performing f(x)’s 4 Walls.

After the unit announcements, it was revealed that I-LANDERS with higher ranks could choose their preferred parts, followed by those with lower rankings. This process determined how the parts were divided among the contestants. All the units began their practices, having only 12 hours to prepare before the interim check. During the interim check, everyone’s performance fell short of expectations, which increased the pressure as almost everyone lacked in their part. They needed to work even harder.
On the final performance day, the event started with the All-Rounder Position unit, who had improved significantly and performed well enough to impress the audience. Next was the Main Rap Performance unit, and both girls were on fire on stage, owning the song and delivering a killer performance.
The Main Dancer Position unit followed, performing exceptionally well and correcting all the mistakes pointed out by the judges during the interim check. Finally, the Main Vocalist unit performed. Choi Jungeun and Yoon Jiyoon ended their rivalry and became each other’s strength, delivering a beautiful performance.

After the test, all the I-LANDERS gathered to hear the results. The announcement revealed that Kim Sujung placed 12th with 150 votes, Choi Jungeun 11th with 187 votes, Son Juwon 10th with 195 votes, Nam Yuju 9th with 200 votes, Mai 8th with 204 votes, Kim Gyuri 7th with 233 votes, Yoon Jiyoon 6th with 237 votes, Ryu Sarang 5th with 238 votes, Jung Saebi 4th with 243 votes, Fuko 3rd with 250 votes, Bang Jeemin 2nd with 252 votes, and Koko 1st with 266 votes.
After including the producers’ scores, Saebi moved from 4th to 7th, Jungeun from 11th to 10th, and Mai from 8th to 9th. The results highlighted the intense competition, visibly affecting the contestants who initially seemed confident about making their debut but ended up with lower scores.
