Based on a true story, the documentary looks at the astronomical rise and fall of Generación Zoe, a financial platform that also promised to bring about revolution in the fields of education, finance and spiritual development. During 2020-2022, amid rising financial insecurity in many countries of Latin America and a boom in investing, Leonardo Cositorto brought forth this ambitious project that promised its investors outlandish things. Millions of people brought into this dream and invested hundreds of millions of dollars. Apart from the various self-help projects, the company also boasted of high-tech innovations including a cryptocurrency network called Zoe Cash and robots.
However, that came crashing down as quickly as it took off, with Cositorto being touted as a fraud and a thief by media and the general population alike, calling the platform a pyramid scheme. Soon, people who invested their money into the system were unable to take their money out and before long, Generación Zoe had fled the coup. Fortunately, Interpol traced him to the Dominican Republic and extradited him back to Argentina, where he is facing many charges including fraud and illicit association.
