Apartment 404 Episode 8 Recap
In the last episode, BLACKPINK’s Jennie and others are dressed in school uniforms, looking absolutely adorable. Jo Se-ho joins them as a replacement for Yang Se-chan since the latter could not make it for the shoot. The case is from 2003 and takes place in high schools. 2003 was a year filled with inventions and an obsession with films.
South Korean teenagers in 2003 loved gangster-style romance films and series. The youth loved the portrayal of flashy action scenes – leading to them reenacting those scenes in the schools as well. There was yet another trend – juveniles committing serious crimes like battery, theft and damage to property.
As the 6 of them reach the school, a familiar face comes across them – TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s Yeonjun. But in this episode, he isn’t himself – he is a student. While the rest of them try to talk to him, he treats them like new students. Right then, Si-eun comes on the back of someone’s bike and Yeonjun follows her around.

They reach their classrooms and there is a commotion. Yeonjun fights other students in the hallway – leaving the cast gobsmacked at his behaviour. Si-eun comes to break the two students apart and Yeonjun asks her ‘is it him or me?’ And she replies that she likes them both.
In the classroom, the 6 transfer students sit with Yeonjun and Se-ho sees him putting the tear-drop necklace in Si-eun’s bag, before leaving the class. The teacher (recurring cast member Woo-il) returns to tell them about the missing teardrop necklace from the neighbouring jewellery shop. He checks their bags and finds the necklace in her bag. Se-ho immediately comes to her aid and spills the truth.
The six of them, with many questions, go to another room and play a game where they divide Jae-suk, Jennie and Nara into one team and Se-ho, Tae-hyun and Jung-ha into the other team. Tae-hyun’s team wins against Jae-suk’s team and they get two different clues.
All 6 of them deduct that the case is about gangsters but only the winning team know that they have to find three people and two of them could be from their cast itself. Tae-hyun, Jung-ha and Se-ho first go to look for Yeonjun after solving another clue and find him at the nurse’s office. They assume he is the person ‘A’ they are looking for but he tells them that he wants to join the gang. Stealing the necklace is part of his test and person ‘A’ is Si-eun – which is why he put the necklace in her bag.

They need to find the two other recruiters that are hiding amongst them. Right then, Na-ra is seen collecting other cast members things and the viewers get to know that she is one of the recruiters. The cast reunites to play another game and Jae-suk’s team wins. The winning and losing team gets two different clues.
Jae-suk’s team finds out about the full case and while Na-ra pretends that she has no idea, the rest find out that they must find Si-eun. They go to another room and find the code of conduct that is filled with different missions like shouting, hugging and bowing 90 degrees. Thus begins the finger-pointing.
Everyone looks around for the recruiter and Jae-suk’s team thinks it is Na-ra and Se-ho while Tae-hyun’s team think that it is Na-ra and Tae-hyun. Jung-ha and the rest finally find Si-eun, Yeonjun and the other students signing to be gangsters when they see the cast’s thumbprints on the contracts.
As the full team enter the room, the production team reveals that if one more set of fingerprints is given to Si-eun, the recruiters win otherwise the civilians win. The room becomes chaos as everyone points fingers at each other – giving Si-eun a chance to catch the last set of fingerprints from Na-ra. The second recruiter who helped turns out to be Jennie!

The cast members gather to give their ending comments and each one of them talks about how they learned new skills through Apartment 404 and hope to see their new family again in the new season.
Apartment 404 Episode 8 Review
The story itself was quite interesting and had a great flow as Yeonjun added his flair to the episode. It was obvious that the cast members have become quicker with their deductions and it is honestly impressive!
Each member shined in their way and Jo Se-ho was a hilarious addition but we still missed Yang Se-chan! Na-ra and Jung-ha showed off their skills in a great manner as the latter could deduce a tough clue quickly while the former worked quickly as a spy. As the series comes to an end, we hope to see them in season 2 where the scales will be bigger and the stories will get more twisted and fun!
