Apartment 404 Episode 3 Recap

Episode 3 was set in December of 1999, the time when the ‘Y2K bug’ phenomenon was widespread. Using a real incident where a couple led a cult of educated and respected individuals, playing on the fear of the world ending and scammed them off over 15 billion Korean won. With a spy planted amongst the members, they were split into two teams yet again where they began looking for clues regarding the incident.

Through comical gameplay and smart deductions, they realised that there was a cult leader (spy) amongst them. As they continued to unravel the story, one clue at a time, they found out that the usually ‘klutzy’ Jung-ha was the cult leader all along. Using a book of prophecies and his stellar acting skills, he led them astray time and again, even though all the clues pointed towards him.

The episode left the cast members and the viewers gob-smacked at the sheer effort and intricate play that the production crew created to keep everyone in the dark. From the characters on set to the actors that the crew planted to throw off the cast, episode 3 was truly something else.

Set in the 1970s, the theme takes a turn as the cast members play a long game of bingo to find the secret of the apartment building. They are invited to the New Village Plan where the games and trades lead them to the top and this time- nobody trusts anybody.

With each episode, it becomes fairly obvious that each member is becoming stronger in their skills as well as newly acquired skills. With any kind of deal being allowed, it opens many avenues for each cast member to look out for themselves. Through many secret alliances and betrayals, the teams find themselves being suspicious of each other. With Yeonjun added to the mix, the viewers look forward to yet another hilarious episode filled with accusations, funny quips and lots of suspicious gazes!
