GOT7 10th Anniversary: As one of the most memorable 3rd generation K-pop music act with talents of Mark Tuan, Jay B, Jackson Wang, Park Jin-young, Choi Young-jae, BamBam and Kim Yu-gyeom, this boy group was originally formed under the banner of JYP Entertainment on January 16, 2014. Commemorating the completion of their ten years together, the septet released handwritten letters, pulling their fandom (IGOT7) into a collectively emotional embrace. The group had gained attention back in the day due to their eccentric musical colours and performance arts, especially with the members jumping into action with their martial art skills onstage.
Riding onto the stage of their debut showcase on their auto electric skateboards, as also recalled by Jackson Wang in his three-page heartfelt letter addressing JYP, his fellow members, family, fans and others, the seven members clearly drove straight into the hearts of music enthusiasts who instantly gathered under the umbrella of the group’s fanbase soon after that. Over the years, the septet has struggled to gain artistic freedom in their attempts to free themselves from the clutching arms of producers and diplomatic agency bylaws that put up one too many hindrances in their path to fully spell out an unfiltered expression of their artistry for the world to enamour.

In January 2021, all seven singers finally walked out on their former label to explore a self-articulated path of autonomy and musical expression. After 7 years of their lives spent with JYP, the members finally got a chance to traverse new pathways as they all ventured into the solo sphere of finding their artistic depths. However, despite their departure from the old label, they never parted ways from the group’s name itself. A decade after their first formal introduction to the world, the septet is again looking back at the time spent together, and all they have are but sweet memories and experiences to share.
Recently, BamBam and Youngjae reunited at the Seoul Music Awards 2024, where they not only performed their solo songs but also bagged the Global Producer Award alongside Mark Tuan, who was also supposed to attend the ceremony but his appearance was cancelled at the last minute due to health reasons. This is just one of the many mini reunions the members have had in the recent times, and all of these have incessantly sparked the hope of them all joining forces again sometime in the future to release music together as GOT7.
Their newly penned letters also ignite the same reminder, especially with messages like “until we return as a whole everyone take care of your health” (Mark), and “PS. don’t go anywhere and only love us” (Jay B) fuelling IGOT7’s (or ahgase) hopes of the much awaited reunion. Moreover, Youngjae, who also currently hosts MBC FM4U’s radio program Close Friend, opened today’s broadcast with the GOT7 debut song Girls Girls Girls. On the other hand, BamBam too, in his signature style of making memes out of every possible situation, shared certain pictures and videos of the beloved members on his Instagram page (linked below).
If that’s not enough then Jinyoung’s “Many things happened in this 10 years but the only thing that’s unchanged is our ahgases’ hearts for us. How should I put it.. It feels like it’s possible that we can go even longer together” (translation by @midsummer922) will be enough to break and mend the fans’ hearts simultaneously.
