Flowers in Sand Episode 4 Recap

The episode starts Baek-du talking to himself while on his way home about Du-sik trying to get him to join the team. However, he reflects that she wants him to join the team because she needs him and the team as well. But Baek-du takes it in the wrong way which makes Du-sik angry, and she leaves the scene instantly.

Suddenly Hyeon-uk appears and asks her to act like a couple. Then she realises that someone is waiting outside for them, and it is none other than her boss. Her superior arrived from the city for the investigation of the death of Choi Chil-seong. She spends the night with the detectives, discussing further about the case.

Meanwhile, Baek-du also appears and spots the three of them talking outside their house. He grows suspicious of them and tries to listen to their conversation. Then, he concludes that the woman is Du-sik’s mother-in-law. He meets with Du-sik and asks her to stand up to her mother-in-law and asks her not to let her walk all over her.

The very next day, Baek-du and Jin-su face each other in the middle of the road. Jin-su accuses Baek-du of coming for his job, and Baek-du tries to reason that that is not his intention. The fight escalates, and Jin-su challenges him to a match, and whoever wins will get the job. Baek-du hesitates to say yes, but after looking and Du-sik, he changes his mind and agrees to fight him.

Later that day, everyone gathers at the stadium to witness the fight. The match commences, and they both give a fierce competition. However, Jin-su swiftly wins the first round and everyone cheers for him. In the next round, Baek-du also fights back and he wins the round easily. As the third round is about to start, two police officers arrive at the stadium and take Baek-du to the station to question him about the murder case.

In the interrogation room, Baek-du is informed that he is the last person to meet Chil-seong. But Baek-du remembers nothing about it and grows confused. The police officer further tells him that he also got into a quarrel with Chil-seong, and that makes him a prime suspect in the murder.

However, a witness arrives at the police and says that they have information regarding the case. The witness is Joo Mi-Ran who says that she saw Baek-du with the man late at night. She recalls that the man was driving fast and accidentally hit Baek-du with his car. Baek-du gets up and offers the man money, which leaves everyone confused.

The officer asks Baek-du why he was offering the man money, but he remembers nothing. He then recalls that the man came by the restaurant earlier on the same day and did not take the change after paying the bill. Baek-du was returning the money that he owed him. Since he has no connection with Chil-seon’s death, he is allowed to leave the station.
