Castaway Diva (무인도의 디바) is a Korean rom-com that tells the story of a woman stranded on an island for 15 years and how she comes back into society and tries to pursue her dream to be an idol. Directed by Oh Choong-hwan, the drama stars Park Eun-bin, Kim Hyo-jin, Chae Jong-hyeop, Cha Hak-yeon, Kim Joo-heon, and Lee Re, alongside other cast members.
The Kdrama tells the story of Seo Mok-ha who dreams of becoming a singer, however, an incident leaves her stranded on a deserted island where she survives for 15 years. Now, she is rescued, but times have changed and circumstances make achieving her dream challenging. Will she be able to become a singer and get her stage?
The show will have 12 episodes and be broadcast on tvN in the Saturday-Sunday slot at 9:20 PM KST time slot previously occupied by Arthdal Chronicles season 2. The Castaway Diva episode 9 has a run time of 79 minutes.

The synopsis of the Kdrama reads:
Fifteen years after being stranded on a remote island, an aspiring singer reenters society- stopping at nothing to pursue her dream of becoming a diva.

After talking to Mok-ha about the moment when she realised that she is finally free from her father’s abuse on the island, Bo-geol makes his way to his father in order to get proof of his abuse. And just as he had expected, Bong-wan gave him a good beating right after their reunion. Bo-geol made sure to record this incident and warned him to not come near them or Mok-ha.
Bong-wan is shocked by this and almost gives up until he sees the beer can touched by Bo-geol and decides to report an identity theft case. Meanwhile, Bo-geol sprinkles alcohol on himself to give a reason for his wounds, unfortunately, Woo-hak grows suspicious. Meanwhile, Ran-joo tells Mok-ha that she will no longer work with someone who would give up on herself this easily.
Recalling how she had previously tried to help a talented man years back, who gave up in the end due to his age, Ran-joo is determined to not fall for the same thing again. Mok-ha is shocked by Ran-joo’s determination and hands over the key Ran-joo’s mother had given to her before leaving.
She then meets the Kang brothers on the way and with the help of Woo-hak, finds out that Bo-geol had gone to meet Bong-wan. Bo-geol confesses his deeds and tells how he will make sure that he does not disturb their lives and this is overheard by Sang-doo who feels guilty for what his son has to go through. Later, Mok-ha sees the shatter Bo-geol after Woo-hak leaves and assures him that he will never have to face that man again.
Elsewhere, Ran-joo goes to Seo-jun’s house once again and it is Yong-gwan who drops her there. She remembered the time when she had worked hard for his sake as Yong-gwan was the person she had told Mok-ha about. But when all it took was one failure for him to give up, she could not help but feel the uselessness of her hard work.
On the other hand, Mok-ha is prepared to show her resolve to Ran-joo and decides to RJ Entertainment. The next day, she reminisces about the memories spent with Ran-joo when Bo-geol arrives with breakfast to give her company and hide his injuries. Woo-hak too makes his way there but does not enter the room when he sees her with Bo-geol.
Later, Woo-hak returns to looking into Dae-woong’s case and remembers that his dashcam may have recorded who put the hornets in his car. However, he soon finds out that the footage has been automatically deleted but gets help from his senior to restore the footage. They get a lead in a few days as the restored footage shows Bong-wan putting the hornets in Dae-woong’s car.
Woo-hak rushes to file a complaint at the police station and soon investigation begins. On the other hand, Mok-ha shows her determination while sitting in front of Ran-joo and is given access to the archived files of the company which is seen as “trash”. However, she is ready to listen to all the songs there and finally finds a song that is to her liking.
Unfortunately, the songwriter is not ready to give her permission to use the song and she soon finds out that it is none other than Yong-gwan who wrote the song. She identifies him as the person whom Ran-joo tried to help and is now determined to make him give her permission.

She soon begins her work on the song while Bo-geol approaches Ran-joo with the intention of getting her help for Mok-ha. Soon, Mok-ha is able to prepare new lyrics and change the song to her liking before showing it to Yong-gwan. Seeing her determination, Yong-gwan finally hands over the permission needed and lets her prepare it for the upcoming showcase.
Castaway Diva Episode 9 Ending
Mok-ha finally performed the song in front of the decision-makers at RJ Entertainment, with Yong-gwan, Ran-joo and Seo-jun in the audience. Yong-gwan cannot stop his tears from seeing Mok-ha’s continued effort while Ran-joo tells Seo-jun that she will be producing Mok-ha’s album.
Meanwhile, Bong-wan pushes his friend to file an identity theft case against Bo-geol while the truth about the Kang family is at risk of being revealed soon as the real Kang family is soon going to come out of the reservoir. Later that night, Woo-hak finds out that his father has been doing something else under the pretence of attending flower arrangement classes.
On the other hand, Bo-geol de routes on his way back home when Mok-ha sends him on an errand. However, he soon gets suspicious and turns on the live CCTV footage to see Bong-wan inside his house. He rushes back home while Bong-wan greets Mok-ha and Ha-jung who are home alone.
Castaway Diva Episode 9 Review
You know the performance is good when actors leave you feeling all their emotions through the screen and touch your heart. Be it the anger brought by Bong-wan, Bo-geol’s fear, Woo-hak’s breaking heart and frustration, and Mok-ha’s resolve. Every bit of emotion was brought out in the best way possible in this episode and as we make our way to the end, I can say that the excitement and sadness are hitting at the same time.
Episode 9 has brought in a nice rollercoaster ride for us all as we are taken through the right number of ups and downs that are keeping us hooked to this show. The predictability of this show is quite low as it doesn’t fail to bring us new surprises with every episode. Just like the cliffhanger today, the show has done it right in every way.
Altogether, this was yet another amazing episode, though we now have three ships sailing and wishing our favourite wins. Which ship do you support? Mok-ha and Ran-joo? Mok-ha and Bo-geol? Or Mok-ha and Woo-hak?
