In his big screen debut, the Under the Queen’s Umbrella actor Yoo Seon-ho will be leading the upcoming theatrical premiere of the Loan Boy Korean movie (사채소년). Directed by Hwang Dong-seok, the school-based action film releasing this November welcomes an ensemble cast consisting of some of the constant fan-favourite K-drama actors. Loan Boy Plot / Synopsis

While Yoo In-soo’s Nam-young poses as the model high school student, Seon-ho’s Kang Jin is not only bullied by the former classmate, but is also chased down by debt collectors. One day, Kang Jin stumbles upon a stack of cash belonging to Rang, which empowers him to stand up for himself against Nam-young’s girlfriend, Da-young (Kang Mi-na). Soon after that, Nam-young hits back hard and steals Kang’s newfound wealth. Ultimately, Kang is left with no choice but to confide in Rang, who then opens up the doors for him by revealing a secret, in turn pushing him into the world of loan sharks.

Finding himself on the lowest steps of the social ladder, Kang makes the most of the situation at hand to climb higher ranks. Putting aside the action-packed path of the film, Loan Shark Boy will also illustrate the convoluted power dynamic dividing students of the same age, from the same grade and school, on the basis of their financial backgrounds. The cinematic thriller will bring alive the harsh student experience while displaying Yoo Seon-ho’s character in a grey light as he starts his own clandestine loan business.
