Vaan Moondru Ending Explained: An Amr Murugesh directorial, the cast of this Tamil drama includes Aadhitya Baaskar as Sujith, Ammu Abhirami as Swaathi, Vinoth Kishan as Joshva, Abhirami Venkatachalam as Meenakshi, Delhi Ganesh as Sivam and Leela Samson as Chithra. The film is available on Aha Tamil streaming platform.
Vaan Moondru has certain flaws that affect its apparent motive of connecting three different storylines via a single thread. A lack of clarification makes the film feel incomplete, more so due to the emotional baggage that it carries. While talking about the ending, we will look deeper into this issue and how the ending could have been better.
Vaan Moondru Synopsis
The story of Vaan Moondru highlights three pairs, Swaathi-Sujith, Meenakshi-Joshva and Chithra-Sivam. While the first one isn’t a couple, the latter two are. Using the motif of the strength of the human spirit, the film tries to connect the stories of these three pairs, each of which has a different issue to deal with. Swaathi and Sujith have both tried to commit suicide but are somehow saved. Meenakshi is pregnant but is suffering from a brain stroke. Her husband, Joshva, can only hope for the best. Chithra has a blockage in her heart, and Sivam needs a lot of money for her treatment. How each of these storylines turns out is what the film explores.
Vaan Moondru Ending Explained
Did Swaathi and Sujith Get Together At the End of the Film?
Yes. This was predictable and in the most cliché manner. Their lovers had left them, and this was the reason for their suicide attempt. But when they are admitted to the general ward of the same hospital, Sujith starts to like Swaathi. He even asks her to marry him (out of nowhere), although she tells him that she is yet to get over everything that she has been through.

Eventually, and surprisingly, after a word from a random guy, whose family member (admitted in the same ward) believes that Sujith is a great guy, Swaathi thinks a lot about it and agrees to Sujith’s proposal. All this happens in a span of a handful of days. I leave it to you to decide whether it is closer to real life or can only happen in reel life.

Did Meenakshi Survive Her Treatment?
Yes, she does, but she passes away later. The doctor had made it clear to her husband, Joshva, that the chances of her survival were low and she needed a miracle. That miracle did occur, but it was temporary. 18 months after her treatment, we see Joshva holding their child in his hands. But Meenakshi is no more. Before going away, she gave her husband the greatest gift “conceivable”.

Did Chithra Survive Her Heart Surgery?
Fortunately, Chithra did undergo successful heart surgery, the money for which was provided by Joshva himself. Sivam had told Joshva about his financial issue, and Joshva knew that even if he could not save his wife, he could be someone else’s. He and Sivam are both trying to save the love of their lives, and Joshva finds it his responsibility to help Joshva in the only way he can.

What makes me sad is that we don’t get to see Joshva meet Chithra and introduce his child to her. That would have been the perfect ending to their story. Also, since the film takes place inside a hospital, it would have been more effective if, like Swaathi and Meenakshi, Chithra too was admitted to the same hospital. This would have made things feel more connected.
And though we see Joshva telling Sujith’s friend that Sujith will get a better girl, it seems that the makers were in a hurry to connect the two stories rather than giving it some more time. Sujith and Meenakshi’s story is exclusive to the stories of Meenakshi-Joshva and Chithra-Sivam, while the latter two are deeply connected.
