-The First Responders Season 2 Episode 1 Recap Contains Spoilers-

The first episode of the second season started off fiercely with Jin Ho-gae running behind a criminal to catch him along with his associate Pil. After much resistance and agitation, they are finally able to catch the culprit. However, he is reminded again that he did not catch the serial arsonist responsible for multiple deaths yet.

To find out more about the arsonist, Ho-gae goes to the prison to meet a former arsonist for some insight. Instantly the environment changes into an eerie one as the criminal enters the room. The criminal tells Ho-gae that the arsonist must have lost something precious in the past, which has led him to take some extreme steps. Ho-gae recalls all the events and starts to connect all the dots surrounding the incidents.

The scene changes to the past, where it shows when both Ho-gae and Do-jin enter a burning building in the parking lot to rescue the victims inside it. However, due to a few miscalculations, they both end up getting stranded inside the little space. Nevertheless, after many efforts, they both manage to get out of the burning building.

Both Do-jin and Ho-gae continue to conduct their own investigation. Do-jin finds out that the culprit used a special wrench which is sold very less and can be easily traced back to the criminal. Meanwhile, Ho-gae figures that the victims inside the building were already dead before the fire took place, and the medicine used on them can also be traced back to the one who bought it.

However, tensions start to rise between Song Seol and Ho-gae as they start to grow closer following the incident. Do-jin on the other hand, also has feelings for Song Seol, and he carries around a box of ring to propose to her. But Song Seol seems to have feelings for Ho-gae instead which can result in a heart-wrenching love triangle.

The arsonist does not rest and starts to look for his next victim. In a series of events, it is shown how a small kitchen in a restaurant suddenly catches fire, and it quickly spreads across the entire place. Firefighters manage to rescue some of the victims, but as Song Seol goes inside the room to rescue another person, the ceiling starts to crack with her still being inside it.
