Blossoming with the ZEROBASEONE debut finally, July 10, 2023, has blessed K-pop enthusiasts with the 5th Generation boy group’s In Bloom MV that transports the boys as well as their fans to an imagined fantasy of perfection and bright hopefulness. Managed by WakeOne, the group comprises of 9 members – Kim Ji-woong, Zhang Hao, Sung Han-bin, Seok Matthew, Kim Tae-rae, Ricky, Kim Gyu-vin, Park Gun-wook and Han Yu-jin – all of who have now successfully raced towards the fans they’d garnered even before their official debut.
Emerging out as the final Boys Planet lineup, the nonet’s overpowering bright charisma is captured in a Gen-Z style video game landscape . At 6PM KST, the titular music video for their first mini album titled Youth In the Shade led the way and caught up to Twitter trends while its musical tonality, deeply inspired by aha’s Take On Me, took over the hearts of the general public. The meaningful leap towards a bright future for the group boasts of the youthful charm embodied by the members’ personalities, and in turn, their musical debut as well.

Honing the nostalgic mip-tempo pop beats of the aforementioned hit track, the song’s themes and tonality work in the favour of the music video narrative choice. Pixelated game visuals pop up now and then, while the nonet seems to be on the heartening quest to catch hold of blooming flowers in the near distance.
Grasping on to them as gently as possible, almost as if the flowers in their possession were metaphorical representation of their fans (known as ZEROSE), they claim that their “day ends and begins with you”, and “my life and everything I am is yours”. It possibly also points towards a more literal announcement of how these 9 members were ultimately voted into the ZB1 lore existence by all those fans and people who rooted for them during the Mnet survival competition reality show earlier this year.
The new album by the WakeOne music act comprises of a total of 6 songs – Back to ZEROBASE, In Bloom, New Kidz on the Block, 우주먼지 (and I), Our Season and Always. Youth in the Shade album review by Twitter users has largely been in the favour of the comeback for the new K-pop artists on the block. Many have already taken to the SNS platform to quote the title track’s lyrics, in addition to leaving endless messages showering the members with appreciation, love and congratulations on their debut.
