Kerala Crime Files Plot

When a woman is found dead in a seedy motel, the police are baffled when they are unable to find anything to figure out who could’ve done the heinous deed. The only thing that they have is a fake address, but will it be enough to catch the culprit?

Kerala Crime Files Ending Explained

From the moment Sub-Inspector Manoj learns of the murder in episode 1 of Kerala Crime Files, he makes it his mission to figure out who could’ve committed the crime. Armed with only a fake address and a dead body, Manoj and his fellow officers run from pillar to post to figure Shiju’s true identity. He learns from the motel’s staff that the culprit was wearing a dhoti and a black shirt and is cross-eyed. Thanks to this unique description, Manoj is able to retrace his steps back to where Shiju was with Swapna before finding another dead end.

When Shiju’s description fails to turn anything up, the police try to find some clues by looking into the victim and talking to Swapna’s roommate Lathika. By a stroke of (unfortunate) luck, he realises that the torture marks that were on Swapna’s body are also present on Lathika’s body. After questioning her further, Manoj realises that Shiju has been up to his perverse antics with other sex workers as well and starts looking into the different hotels where they don’t take proper identifications.

After talking to Shiju’s work colleagues, the police are able to figure out about his plans to get married and that he was in love with someone older than him and that he used to work at Star Hotel. After going through Star Hotel’s abandoned things, the police finally catch a break in the case and find out Shiju’s original address – which does exist.

When they make their way to the address, they find Shiju’s family members, who are equally disgusted with him. Although they don’t find the culprit, they realise that Shiju has always been perverted, and it has cost their family a lot of problems. Later on, without anything to go off on, Manoj decides to circulate Shiju’s original address to all the control rooms in order to get any information from them.

This works in their favour since they finally get their hands on his phone number from an elderly man whom he had threatened to kill after the man had caught him and Sisily having a fling in the kitchen. The police finally learn of Shiju’s mystery woman, although they get no further information about her whereabouts. Interestingly, they finally catch a break thanks to both Shiju and Sisily being on a bus together in which a theft had taken place, thanks to which their details were collected by the police.

Going to her address, they finally learn of Shiju’s whereabouts and about a new job at a canteen in Angamaly. They scour all the canteens in the area and finally run into his hideout, from where they learn that Shiju has been working at the police canteen. When they arrive at the canteen, they are shocked to find him actually working there, right under their nose! They finally are able to nab Shiju 6 days after the crime was found out and receive medals of honour for their service.

Why did Shiju murder Swapna?

Shiju, although a pervert from a young age, was fiercely territorial about Sisily, the only person he seemed to care about. When Swapna started making fun of Sisily, Shiju got angry and murdered her because he couldn’t take the insult by any means.

Why did Shiju give his real address at Star Hotel?

Star Hotel was Shiju’s first workplace and probably the only place where he had not done something illegal that could be traced back to him, and thus that is the only place where he had decided to give out his address. Plus, the hotel had closed down long back, so there was no real chance of him getting traced back.

Kerala Crime Files is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
