Where to Watch 59th Baeksang Arts Awards 2023 Award Winning Movies and Shows

Held on April 28, 2023, at Incheon Paradise City, the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards 2023 ((제59회 백상예술대상) unveiled the final winners’ list, thereby celebrating the artistic liberties executed by actors, directors, and other important crew members of a project. Hosted by MC Shin Dong-yup, singer and actress Bae Suzy, and popular actor Park Bo-gum, the ceremony was organised by Ilgan Sports and JTBC Plus. For international audiences, the event broadcast was live-streamed on TikTok.

Rising high as one of the most prestigious events that recognise the work put in to create Korean movies, TV shows and theatre productions, the Baeksang Arts Awards’ official website revealed its stellar nominations on April 7, packing a tough competition among the best of the bests.

Now that the winners have finally earned their much-deserved accolades, the titles they worked on have become buzzing and trending keywords yet again. We’ve curated a list to put your doubts to ease by putting together a list of all the winning titles and where you can watch them.

TV SHOWS

Extraordinary Attorney Woo

With all 16 episodes of the legal drama series streaming on Netflix, the K-drama stars Park Eun-bin, Kang Tae-oh, Kangri-young and others in the lead. At today’s award ceremony, the series won a long list of awards with the leading star Park Eun-bin winning the Daesang (Grand Prize), and Yoo In-shik bagging the Best Director category award.

The Glory

Recently, with the show’s second season having released on Netflix as well, just like the first one, this particular K-drama starring Song Hye-kyo, Lee Do-hyun, Lim Ji-yeon and others became a raging topic of discussion among the fans of K-content. And the same was translated into grand 9 nominations for today’s awards. Ultimately, the series’ overall wins at the ceremony included the following categories – Best Actress (Song Hye-kyo) and Best Supporting Actress (Lim Ji-yeon).

Reborn Rich

Lee Sung-min’s win under the Best Actor category for his portrayal of Jin Yang-chul in the revenge tragedy series again brings the show, also starring Song Joong-ki, back in the limelight. Adapted form the web novel of the same name, the series directed by Jung Dae-yoon, is now streaming on TVING, Netflix and Disney+ in select locations. For other international territories, it’s also streaming on Viu and Viki.

Narco-Saints (Suriname)

Starring an ensemble cast including the likes of Ha Jung-woo, Hwang Jung-min, Park Hae-soo, Yoo Yeon-seok, Jo Woo-jin and others, the thriller series insured by the American crime drama series Narcos is streaming on Netflix. Today’s win for the show were recorded in the Best Supporting Actor category as Jo Woo-jin’s talent for playing the character Byeon Ki-tae was recognised officially.

Under the Queen’s Umbrella

The much-love sageuk or historical drama starring Kim Hye-soo, Kim Hae-sook, Moon Sang-min, Bae In-hyuk, Yoo Seon-ho, Kang Chan-hee and others wrapped up its 16 episode-run in December 2022. While the Korean public watched the show’s broadcast on their local TV network tvN, international audiences can still stream the series on Netflix. Moon Sang-min won the Best New Actor trophy.

Crash Course in Romance

Roh Yoon-seo clinched the Best New Actress title for her portrayal of Nam Hae-yi in the romantic comedy series now streaming on Netflix. The show also stars Jung Kyung-ho and Jeon Do-yeon as its leading pair.

My Liberation Notes

While the leading actor of the show, Son Suk-ku wasn’t able to take home the trophy for his nomination in the Best Actor category, the show won otherwise for the Best Screenplay title. Park Hae-young, the South Korean screenwriter took the award home proudly.

Little Women

In a darker, loose and modern-day adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s English novel of the same name, the South Korean series is directed by Kim Hee-won, and stars Kim Go-eun, Nam Ji-hyun, and Park Ji-hu. Having claimed 4 nominations dune various categories like Best Drama, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Technical Award, the series finally registered its win in the last category mentioned as Ryu Seong-hie was applauded for her Product Design on the show.
