Met Gala 2023 is right upon us with another prestigious and glamorous night of fashion that will be taking over everybody’s feed on social media. Held in New York City at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, the event is known to bring forward the best in fashion with its exquisite and grand themes.
The last year’s theme – In America: An Anthology of Fashion, explored defining moments in nineteenth and twentieth-century American fashion. We saw some iconic looks from Blake Lively, Shalom Harlow and many other famous personalities. While there were some controversies as well that have led to some strict regulations, this time.

Met Gala 2023 Theme
The theme for this year will be a homage to the late creative director of Chanel – Karl Lagerfeld. The complete name of the theme curated by Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton is ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ which will honour his work with the dress code. The guests will be seen in various costume designs from archives at Chanel, Fendi, Chloé, Balmain, Patou and his eponymous brand, ranging from the 1950s to his final collection in 2019.
Met Gala 2023 Date and Time
It is usually held on the first Monday of May and the event is set to be held on the 1st of May 2023. It will start at 6:30 PM Eastern Time, which means it will be available on 2nd May 2023 at 4 AM IST. The whole event will be live-streamed for everyone to watch on Vogue’s social media channels.
Met Gala 2023 Hosts
The 2023 show will be hosted by personalities from TV, movies, sports and music. It includes Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer, Dua Lipa along with Anna Wintour, who are serving as Met Gala’s official co-chairs. Along with it, Emma Chamberlain will be stepping in as a special correspondent of the red carpet live stream.
While the live stream of the event will be hosted by La La Anthony, along with writer Derek Blasberg and Saturday Night Live’s Chloe Fineman.

Met Gala 2023 Guest List (Rumoured)
While the guest list always remains a secretive affair until the eve of the event, there are a few celebrities that are confirmed to make an appearance on the red carpet. Like the leading ladies from music – Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Madonna and even Rihanna. Apart from them, we can expect all the Chanel ambassadors to grace the event with their fashion A-game.
The rumoured guest list that has been doing rounds on the internet includes – Selena Gomez, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Rosé, Jennie, Lady Gaga, Ryan Reynolds, Miley Cyrus, Rosalía, Bad Bunny, Blake Lively, Gigi Hadid, Cardi B, Jenna Ortega, Zendaya and even BTS’ RM and Jimin are speculated to attend the event, although nothing has been confirmed.
Met Gala 2023 Are the Kardashians Invited?
This has been one of the hot topics ever since the theme of the event was announced. The Kardashians and the Jenners have been at the forefront of the event and always make it to the headlines, for the last ten years. However, last year Kim Kardashian’s Marilyn Monroe dress controversy could be one of the rumoured reasons for not getting an invitation this year. While nothing has been confirmed or denied so far whether the infamous family make an appearance or not.
If not all, then we can at least expect Kendall Jenner to make an appearance as she has been part of the latest magazine issue which paid tribute to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld. Also, as many would know that social media is completely banned from the event, yet Kylie Jenner was seen sharing a selfie from the washroom with several guests in the frame. So, if we don’t see them this year then you know what was the reason behind it.
