SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan won’t be participating in the Mnet M Countdown Pre-recording on April 21, 2023, which is set to premiere on April 27, 2023. After the sudden demise of ASTRO member Moon Bin, many Kpop schedules have been changed. That said, Seungkwan is also sitting out of the show since he is the best friend of the late idol.

SEVENTEEN’s company Pledis released an official statement that translates, “We’d like to inform you Seventeen member Seungkwan is not participating in the pre-recording of Mnet’s ‘M! Countdown’ scheduled to take place at 7:40 PM today as he’s feeling unwell.” After the announcement, many fans shared their condolences and heartwarming messages for the idol to return mightier.
ASTRO’s Moon Bin Passes Away
On April 19, 2023, Moon Bin’s manager found the 25-year-old Kpop idol dead at his Gangnam residence. The shocking news was officially announced by his company Fantagio, which shook the Korean industry once again. While the accurate cause isn’t known, police have reported that Moon Bin has died by suicide, and an autopsy report will be provided if the family accepts.
In recent years, many Korean artists have ended their lives due to extreme hate and cyberbullying. While it is unsure whether Moon Bin also chose the decision due to bullying, it’s evident that the hate comments from users is a major issue. Post his demise, many Kpop events and artists have paused their work, including Seungkwan.

Seungkwan and Moon Bin are 98-liners and are best friends. They both often hang out with each other and post photos together. In fact, in many interviews, both of them have expressed how close they are. In one of the interviews, Moon Bin said, “I formed a lot of memories with Seungkwan. I don’t like going out that much, but thanks to him, I went to many places.”
After hearing the news of Seventeen’s main vocalist not performing in the Mnet M Countdown, many Arohas, Carats, and fans, in general, started to pour their words of comfort. Here are some of the reactions from fans where they request the artist to take his time and come back stronger.
