This Turkish series on Netflix tries to tackle the mother-daughter relationship in an intense drama-thriller, and the Who Were We Running From ending explained breaks it all down. Based on the 2007 novel by Perihan Madenb, this show is directed by Umut Aral and Gökçen Usta.
This mysterious series is also called Biz Kimden Kaçiyorduk Anne? and stars Melisa Sözen, Eylül Tumbar, Musa Uzunlar, Birand Tunca, Jessica Rookeward, Isik Naz Özedgü, Basak Dasman, Hakan Emre Unal, Devrim Kabacaoglu, Alper Çankaya and Meriç Rakalar, alongside other cast members. Cengiz Deveci and Irfan Sahin join as producers, while Burak Kanbir and Gözde Koyuncu join the crew as cinematographers.
Who Were We Running From Ending Explained
As the episode begins, we see the protagonist sleeping before a phone rings, and she is forced to wake up and take stock of their situation. Bambi and her mother go hotel-hopping because they are afraid of the things other people, especially her mother’s family, may do. They live lavishly in the best hotel rooms with the best services and feel entitled to it when they haven’t been given that. Bambi still dresses like a child, and the mother always dresses in black, no matter what.
This kind of discordant dressing sense puts off a lot of guests at the hotel they generally stay at. But this is so that Bambi is not threatened by the people around her and can remain under the radar. However, her beauty is so magnetic that people are automatically drawn to her even though she tries her best to minimise herself in a situation. When Bambi and her mother are given a sub-par table at a restaurant, she calls the maître d’hôtel and informs him of this mistake.
However, he decides to completely invalidate what she says, so the mother gets up and leaves the restaurant, not before dragging the tablecloth with her. The hotel manager sees this and becomes livid, asking her to leave the hotel itself, saying that it was truly harrowing to have her and her freak daughter. This doesn’t go over too well with the mother, who is seething. She later kills him in his office and takes her daughter to another hotel.

They call this hotel a paradise because, till now, nothing bad has happened, and things have been calmer than usual. The only problem here is the doctor, who has been getting too close to Bambi, making her uncomfortable. When the doctor gets wind of that, he lays a bait so that the mother leaves the hotel, but he has access to the kid. He tries to assault her, but she gives him the slip. The mother finds out about this and goes completely livid at him, too, killing him.
At this point, the kill count is high. We have already seen two people die, and there was a good reason for the second one. We see this family of two that is incredibly dedicated and would do anything for each other. This murder is just the beginning. Soon, we see the mother try to kill the bank manager when she wouldn’t let her withdraw money. There are really only a few places they can escape to, so they go to the Greek islands.
After staying for a few days with their dwindling cash, they decide to sell their property in Turkey, which is a popular tourist attraction. What they don’t know is that the buyer is actually Bambi’s grandfather. He has been trying his best to get his hands on the child, but to no avail because the mother keeps taking her all across the world. After a big plan involving police officers and tracker-marked bills, the mother returns to her house and blinds her father in one eye. Bambi comes in and blinds her grandfather in the other eye. She then takes the weapon and starts stabbing him over and over again.
Making their final stretch to run away, they stay in a packed location, blending into the crowd. At this point, the duo has to live on street food. While making her way to the Youth hostel, where they have to live now, they plan on how to hit the shops to get money. The mother ends up going by herself and gets severely injured.
The police get to know their location and follow them as they leave the hostel. The mother asks Bambi to run away. Meanwhile, the police officers corner the injured mother and shoot her with a gun powerful enough to end her life in one shot definitely. Bambi runs away from the law, she loses them in the crowd, and that is the last time they see her.
