As we’re prepping for BTS’ Jimin’s solo album debut slated for this month, each day is a blessing in disguise, with today bringing us the FACE Concept Photo Hardware version. At 12 AM KST, i.e. 8:30 PM IST or 10 AM ET, the first picture of this particular version dropped as per the promotion schedule revealed on February 22, 2023.
Yesterday, we received a dark, mysterious and subtle message from the the Mood Photo revelation. And now, three photos, with the follow-ups being posted in the interval of fifteen minutes, were updated on the official BigHit Music Twitter page. The singer born in 1995 sports a sleek look with a semi damp hairstyle, and a grave expression that speaks volumes, yet stays silent.

The first photo showcases him wearing a zipped-up leather jacket, fuelling the whole theme with a dark mood. The term ‘Hardware’ can also be read as a play on another word – ‘Hard Wear’ – i.e. a homophone of the former. Considering that ‘Hard Wear’ is supposed to represent a grim and solemn tone, then the upcoming set of photos titled ‘Software Version’, could again be a hint at its homophone equivalent, ‘Soft Wear’, which might portray the artist against a light setting and concept.
Switching the route for the second photo, the next update assumed a slightly holographic tinted look, putting the image across as a computer file to be shared. This picture is essentially a portrait bust of Park Jimin, who keeps his eyes closed this time, driving the attention to his smokey eye make-up, spiked piercings by the eye, and a lip-ring that keeps things in vogue despite the photo not showing us the attire picked by him for this particular snap.
The third and the last click of the day once again focusses on bust portraits of BTS’ main dancer. A four-cut collage displays him in a shirtless outlook, with even more number of spiky piercings trailing down the length of the side of his neck, and some eyebrow piercings in the midst too. This set of concept photos takes the album title quite literally in terms of depicting the singer’s ‘Face’ from various angles, and constricting the primary focus to it alone, not allowing one’s vision to wander off elsewhere as the silent expressions thereon have a lot to convey.
In a way, these concept photos act as a self-established mirror for the artist himself, and the music yet to come out will draw upon the idea of him having to ‘Face’ himself. A total of six songs are featured on the upcoming album’s tracklist, which goes as follows: Face-Off, Interlude : Dive, Like Crazy (title track), Alone, Set Me Free Pt. 2 (Pre-release track), and Like Crazy (English version).
