The much-awaited 9th episode of Tsurune Season 2, aka Tsurune – The Linking Shot – or Tsurune: Tsunagari no Issha (ツルネ ―つながりの一射―) is here, and it has again managed to deliver a delightful watch. So without further ado, let us jump right into this review.

Tsurune Season 2 Episode 9 Overview

Tsurune Season 2 Episode 9 Review: An Unforgettable Trip
Still From Tsurune Season 2

When the first season of this franchise dropped, we did not think it would be able to make a name for itself in the competitive sports anime market. But, it managed to set itself apart by becoming one of the very first anime that solely focuses on Kyudo, a Japanese martial art of archery.

This second season will be directed by Yamamura Takuya, who has worked on fan favourites like Koe no Katachi, Violet Evergarden, Clannad: After Story, and Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren, etc.

Tsuruoka Youta will be directing the music for this series, and we have heard his works on anime like Koe no Katachi, Violet Evergarden, Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica, Hellsing Ultimate, etc.

Kyoto Animation studios will be handling the animation, and we fans can rest assured of the quality as we have already received masterpieces like Koe no Katachi, Violet Evergarden, etc, from them.

Tsurune Season 2 Episode 9 Review and Recap – Misplaced Anger

Tsurune Season 2 Episode 9 Review: An Unforgettable Trip
Still From Tsurune Season 2

The 9th episode of this beautiful anime is here, and we are back again with its review. In this episode, we see the Kazemai high school going to the seaside to have a field trip where they will be able to practise kyudo all day long without any external disturbances. Everyone is happy as now, they can finally shoot their arrows without anyone watching in this secluded area. But that happiness does not last long as they come to face with the archers of Tsujimine high school.

Not only that, but there has been a mix-up in the reservations at the hotel, and now they will have to stay together and practise in the same archery range at the same time. This does not sit well with Nikaido, who, for some reason, harbours a special grudge against the Kazemai high school, especially Minato. Plus, the fact that they have a coach and he does not bother him a bit, even though he doesn’t accept it upfront.

Soon they practise with each other, and thankfully everyone else is mingling pretty nicely. Masa san even buys juices for the Tsujimine boys, and even the teacher from Tsujimine high school gets fresh fish and shares it with everyone at Kazemai high school.

Hilariously, Ootaguro gets smitten with Rika and teaches Kazemai members how to fillet a fish. Everyone is happy about this accidental interaction and enjoying the new company of others except for Nikaido, who carries a pissed-off face throughout the episode. It is only later we get to know why he is so angry towards Minato and understand the root of his revenge.

I will not reveal the details about it and urge everyone to go and watch it for themselves. Just a small spoiler; it is linked with Nikaido’s uncle and even Shuu.

Verdict

This episode was pleasant and entertaining as we saw Kazemai interacting with Tsujimine in a friendlier way rather than both the school members thinking of beating each other in Kyudo. The light-hearted comedy really works with its endearing characters and makes you root for them in whatever they do. I am definitely very excited about the next episode.
