Pirate Gold of Adak Island Season 2: Is It Happening? Viewers Want the Treasure Hunting Crew to Return

Pirate Gold of Adak Island Season 2 is one of the most anticipated reality series on Netflix, as viewers want to see some real treasure to be dug out of the island. Released on Netflix on 29 June 2022, the series is created by Mak Pictures with executive producers, Mark Kadin and Will Ehbrecht.

It shows that – Over the past one hundred years, caches of gold coins from the nineteenth century have been found buried on the remote island of Adak. It is part of a pirate’s treasure, most of which has not been found, and has an estimated value of $365 Million. Mayor Thom Spitler thus assembles a team of experienced treasure hunters to search for it, so that it can be used to help the island’s development.

The small island with only 45 residents left, is on the verge of economic collapse and to revive its community, the mayor decided to dig 150 years old treasure sprawled around the island by a Pirate. The expedition team includes Dr M Jackson, Burke Mitchell, Jay Toomoth, Brian Weed and the mayor of the island Thom Spitler.

As soon as the show was released, there was a lot of buzz around the show being scripted or not. As the crew was not able to find anything substantial in the span of 8 episodes. Only towards the end, the team reaches the Red Bluff Hills by following the markings on the rock, presumably made by the Pirate Gregory Dwargstaf.

But the army had already shifted the top part to another location while making the base and settlement. Somehow they reach the disposal site where the top part of the hill might be disposed of. It was also quite near the restricted area where hundreds of bombs were kept. Around the safe area, they were able to dig out 2 gold coins dating from the 1880s and thus making them part of the hidden treasure.

Apart from these two coins, the team found no other coins or clues that would indicate the location of other buried treasure. While the show ended with the crew promising to come back and look for it again when the snow melts away. However, no official confirmation has been released by Netflix or the production house regarding the release of Season 2.

With many shows being cancelled by Netflix, there is no certainty about another season coming out soon. If it does happen, since the series had quite a viewership along with being a trending topic for weeks, then we can expect it in the middle of the year just after the first quarter. 1. My husband and I were stationed on Adak in the late 80’s. Its very sad to see what the military left behind just to rot and decay. It was nice to see the places we had been and the scenery is beautiful.

    • Same. My Dad was stationed there from 84-88 and our family met a lot of nice people. Shocked to see how most of the area looks like a ghost town now.
