A still from the trailer of Dear David

The trailer for Dear David starts with teenager Lara being confronted by David and describes her as a young woman with a seemingly perfect academic life, but with a hidden secret. The official clip then shifts to her computer and reveals that Lara has been writing a fantasy blog about David, pouring out her fantasies and thoughts related to him.

Furthermore, the tone of the trailer changes when the blog is leaked to the entire school after Lara forgets to log out of the account from the class computer. The next couple of events finds her as the new centre of attraction, who has done the unthinkable. Suddenly, the top tier student faces scrutiny, judgment and taunting remarks.

Despite the chaos, the trailer also hints at a glimmer of hope for Lara. There are certain scenes that depict Laura standing up for herself, confronting her bullies, and even talking to David about what has happened. The clip also suggests that this could be the beginning of a journey of self-discovery and empowerment for Lara, as she traverses the fallout from the leak and learns to embrace her true self.

Moreover, from what we can decipher in the trailer, the film tells a compelling story of coming to terms with teenage emotions. And treating them under the category of self-acceptance, rather than just pure taboo. Lara’s journey from receiving flak for the blog, to recognizing her inner self, is what forms the crux of the story in Dear David.
