One Piece Live Action Adaptation Sets Sail at Netflix; Catch the First Look Here

One Piece has long been a household anime title that never closes its chapters on the fans. And, here we are again, with a new saga, in a more realistic and life-like image on the horizon with Netflix.

Based on the never-ending manga and anime series of the same name, Netflix has now green lit a new project in the works, wherein, the fans will witness their beloved King of the pirates, Monkey D. Luffy with the face of Iñaki Godoy. The Mexican actor was previously seen in the 2022 Netflix supernatural teen TV show The Imperfects, which was unfortunately cancelled after its first season run itself despite an open-ending that left the fans waiting for more. However, his presence remained in mind as one of the most adorably memorable aspects of the show.

New look at the upcoming show.

Lucky for his fans, the 19 year old actor will be coming back to helm a major character which already has a vast fanbase dedicated to him. While anime fans have been apprehensive of their favourite shows coming life, quite literally, the first look teased by the streaming platform is so far looking good and promising a positive reception from the fans in the future.

Tomorrow Studios, the same studios that is working on the adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, is breathing life into Luffy’s world as well. Now that the filming for the first season has wrapped up, Netflix has put out the first look or the poster of the upcoming series to give a taste to the fans of what’s coming ahead. The ceaseless manga series itself made its debut in 1997 on the pages of Weekly Shōnen Jump.

Steven Maeda and Matt Owens are the show-runners responsible for making this happen, while Marc Jobst will be directing the first episode of the series. A set sneak peek video was also released by Netflix in 2022 to present the locations of the filming in their full One Piece glory.

The supporting cast of the show includes actors like Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro, Jacob Romero Gibbs as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, Morgan Davies as Koby, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino as Alvida, McKinley Blecher as Arlong, Jeff Ward as Buggy, Jean Henry as Fullbody, Aidan Scott as Helmeppo, Len-Barry Simons as Chew and others.
