Trolley episode 2 starts with Soo-bin showing proof to Hye-joo regarding her pregnancy and the fact that the baby is, in fact, Ji-hoon’s. Hye-joo looks extremely uncomfortable with everything happening in front of her, but Soo-bin starts talking about many things that point to the fact that she might not be lying.

However, a new problem comes into Hye-joo’s life in the form of Soo-bin asking to stay at their place because she doesn’t have any parents (just like Hye-joo, that she doesn’t fail to mention) and probably doesn’t have a place to go either.

A tensed Hye-joo waits for her husband to contact her but doesn’t get a response from Joong-do, who is tense about Ji-hoon’s narcotics case coming out in the media. He faces further flak for using his position to use emergency services to find his daughter, and the narcotics case just compounds the already crappy situation.

At home, Yeo-jin comes in to help Hye-joo and starts to ask Soo-bin the real questions – since she doesn’t have any chats with Ji-hoon, how are they supposed to believe that the two of them had anything? Who are her parents? Since Soo-bin can’t really answer anything concretely, she gets suspicious and asks her whether she is interested to have the baby. Soo-bin, in turn, shoots back, asking her what she should do rather sarcastically, leaving Yeo-jin to be further annoyed.

On the other hand, Joong-do talks to the Chief of Police and gets his son’s toxicology reports which state that although Ji-hoon’s blood work came back negative for drugs, he was extremely drunk. He, however, informs him that the narcotics department found his son on a video camera outside a restroom beside the Han River, which was a drop-off point according to a recent confession from a series of arrests that were conducted.

It’s a rather chaotic turn of events everywhere, and when Hye-joo tells Joong-do that night, who is absolutely slammed after drinking a bit too much, he too is not happy with the turn of events and questions his wife regarding Soo-bin’s intentions and asks Hye-joo to get rid of her. However, his wife doesn’t want to kick her out, considering Soo-bin has no support.

However, Joong-do is not convinced and later asks Soo-bin whether Ji-hoon really is the father. Suddenly, in response, she asks him whether he also wants to know how the baby was conceived and whether Ji-hoon was any good. As the atmosphere gets extremely awkward in the room, she proposes to abort the baby, adding that it would look interesting in the news when everyone learns that an assemblyman threw out his dead son’s pregnant girlfriend.

Right then, Yoon-seo barges in and starts insulting Soo-bin and even calling her brother trash for the situations he got himself into. She gets emotional thinking about how she always wished her brother to die, but now that he’s dead, things are different. However, she doesn’t stop calling Soo-bin all sorts of names and stops only when Joong-do harshly reprimands her for speaking that way.

After Yoon-seo walks off in a huff, Woo-jae talks to Soo-bin in a calm but authoritative manner, asking her whether she is only here to blackmail Ji-hoon’s family. He acknowledges that she is telling the truth and actually was with Ji-hoon, but if she runs her mouth like she is doing now, no one will like or believe her.

When things calm down, Hye-joo takes Soo-bin to stay in Ji-hoon’s old room and, before leaving her to it, asks her whether Ji-hoon forced himself on her in any way. However, Soo-bin assures her that nothing of the sort happened. Afterwards, as Soo-bin looks around her room, we see that she does have a phone on her.

Later, Joong-do asks Hye-joo to take Soo-bin for a drug test the next day. Hye-joo tries to make her husband realise that she’s a pregnant woman and doesn’t seem like someone who would do drugs. However, Joong-do asks her to think rationally and tells her that she is a complete stranger who was their son’s friend. Their son himself was buying drugs, and it wouldn’t be too far-fetched for her to do so, regardless of whether she is pregnant or not.

Hye-joo gets upset at the suggestion, but Joong-do tells her to face the truth – Ji-hoon was someone who had meth in his pocket, and if nothing, he associated with people who did illegal stuff.

The next morning, as Joong-do goes off to work early in the morning, he is swarmed by reporters who ask him about Ji-hoon and him taking special favours. When he refuses to answer their questions, Hye-joo comes out of the house and tells them the truth – that he asked for the favour only because she pressured him to.

Joong-do forcefully asks her to go inside the house, but her blabbering is enough for the media to get the fodder that they need. Later that day, Jo Gwi-soon finds out that Joong-do’s wife had come to her granddaughter’s funeral, and when she sees the reporters talking ill about the assemblyman outside his office, she admonishes them for talking ill of the family and reiterates that he and his wife had come to pay their respects even before they got to know about their son.

The news spreads like wildfire, and Joong-do is left confused when he sees it later. That night, Joong-do addresses the controversy surrounding his son and accepts the wrongdoings and asks for forgiveness on live TV. He goes on to give an impassioned speech about punishing digital sexual violence perpetrators and promising to catch those responsible. It’s an emotional watch for everyone, and Joong-do looks emotional enough in the end for it to be believable.

As public perception rapidly shifts in Joong-do’s favour, he and Hye-joo have a heart-to-heart about what happened and how he feels about exploiting two very good coincidences. Hye-joo assures him that even though she doesn’t understand how politics works, she trusts him as a person and knows that he will do the right thing.

The next day, as the police go to Ji Seung-kyu’s home to arrest him for threatening to leak Namgoong Sol’s sex tape, eventually resulting in her taking her own life, he too jumps out of his window and ends his life after being bullied online and leaves behind a note calling Joong-do a murderer.

Trolley Episode 2 Review

Well, I am intrigued with Trolley. No one is trustworthy because everyone is too good to be true. Both Joong-do and Hye-joo seem like the type of people who couldn’t hurt a fly. And these are precisely the kind of people I can never trust. Is there anything more to their story that meets the eye? I think there is plenty more that we are not being made privy to.

For now, the crap Joong-do constantly finds himself in is entertaining enough to keep us engaged.

Meanwhile, Soo-bin is an interesting addition to the mix only because something is definitely up with her. She’s already lied about the phone and constantly stalks everyone around the house like a ghost. It’s going to be fun watching her complicate stuff, especially because the family itself seems too good to be true.

Thus, as it stands, I am hooked on the show and need to know what is up with this rather nice family!

Trolley is streaming on Netflix.
