The slasher horror film series debuted in theatres in the year 1996 and has been releasing new instalments since. Notably, the first four parts of the daunting franchise were helmed by Wes Craven, while the fifth one was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (also helming the sixth part).

Furthermore, the fifth instalment of the series was released last year, after the pandemic wave, and met with a successful box office reception. The flick grossed a total of 140 million dollars on a mere budget of 24 million and was green-lit for forthcoming sequels. Notably, the production companies behind the franchise include Spyglass Media Group, Project X Entertainment, and Radio Silence Productions, and the film is distributed by Paramount Pictures.
