Under the Queen’s Umbrella Episode 13 (슈룹) was a whirlwind of plot twists and the audience is taking all the heat while trying to stay at the top of these new revelations and take it all in. Nevertheless, the romantic subplots provide a soft corner to feel all the butterflies and Kim Hye-soo’s Queen Hwang-ryeong is making sure that each one of the counterparts of the two onscreen pairs stays well and safe.

The fans couldn’t hold in their excitement when Hwa-ryeong finally revealed that she chose Cheong-ha (Oh Ye-ju) as the Crown Princess, thus mending the misunderstanding between Seong-nam (Moon Sang-min) and her. On the other side, she discreetly provides Cho-wol (Jeon Hye-woo) with a safe space as one of her court ladies in the episode while testing Grand Prince (Yoon Sang-hyun) and his resolve. The viewers were elated to see the Queen support the two despite them going against her word. And with that, she’s reserved a spot for yet another person under her umbrella.
Meanwhile the entangling mess comes clean to some extent as we prepare for the grand finale approaching us soon. Plot twists concerning the true identity of Physician Kwon, his connection to the deposed Queen Yoon, and Ui-seong’s (Kang Chan-hee) paternal origin have heightened the drama and suspense as to how all the loose ends will be tied at the last moment.

While some people didn’t see these turns coming, others had already anticipated these shifts while coming up with fan theories about the series and its characters. The fans are eagerly waiting to see how the case of Crown Prince Taein’s death will be resolved, especially since it involves the present King serving as one of the accomplices in the crime, even if indirectly.

After watching the episode, the audiences also raised valid questions related to ascension to the throne. While the present King wrongly usurped the throne back in the day, and Kwon is seemingly the fitting successor due to his lineage, the equation isn’t black or white. Neither of the characters is absolutely good or evil, and considering the current actions of the characters, it isn’t easy to side with any one of them. The final result is almost ready to be served, and the one thing that fans won’t be able to digest at this juncture is anything ill befalling Hwa-ryeong or her family.
