Christmas On Mistletoe Farm (Nosso Natal na Fazenda) is a new Christmas comedy flick that is out on Netflix. Written and directed by Debbie Isitt, the film is about a struggling father of five trying to manage between his work life and personal life. The total runtime of the movie is 100 minutes.

Let’s start with the positives of the movie, that is, the locations. Christmas on Mistletoe Farm was filmed in the West Midlands region of England. The exquisite scenery will give the viewers a first-hand experience of life in the countryside. It also gives us a closer look at the small population of people residing in the small village, their habits, and their culture.
The background score, along with various songs played during the movie, is quite beautiful. The folk dances being incorporated along with the songs are also enjoyable. The bit where the people of the village are seen celebrating does leave a smile on the viewer’s faces.
As for the movie’s plot, it will not fulfil one’s expectations in the slightest. The story is extremely predictable, and it is hard not to see what is coming. The storytelling process could have been done better, as the progression of the plot in the beginning could have been faster. The pace of the movie suddenly picked up during the last five minutes. A lot more happened during the end compared to the entire movie, dragging the same thought for an hour and a half.
The director of the movie tried to make it relatable but failed miserably. The jokes were overdone and unfunny, which made it even more unbearable. The man was seen trying to form a bond with his children and asking questions about his past simultaneously, and one cannot take any of it seriously when combined with terrible comedy.
Character development was also unsatisfactory. Characters were seen changing their minds about different situations within a second without any explanation whatsoever. There was also a desperate attempt to shove in a romantic angle in the story, which remains a mystery because the characters were hardly seen for a minute together on-screen.
However, the actors did a considerably satisfactory job. Scott Garnham, as Matt, stayed committed to his role throughout. But his efforts fell short of salvaging the movie in any way. The other actors also gave a good performance and delivered whatever the script demanded.
The major takeaway from the movie is to choose one’s family first before anything or anyone else and do things that will make them happy. Mending broken relationships and letting go of the hurt is what the story tries to convey.

The movie that is supposed to make one’s holiday enjoyable will disappoint you. The audience will keep wondering about the movie’s purpose and will find none. As the headline suggests, it should never have been made and saved everyone’s time and resources.

My 4 year old loves this movie! We’ve laughed along with her and it’s given us lots of joy this Christmas. It’s heartwarming, and goodness knows, the World needs as much of that as possible!
